Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I was in detox for 4 days. I was given a complete physical on my first day there and the doctor gave me something, I can't remember the name of it but it helped me through the withdrawals.
Let us know how you are doing, we care!
God Bless!
I haven't been in a program where I officially was "detoxing," so I will just relate to it from my experience early on in sobriety. I guess that counts as detoxing.
The hardest part for me wasn't the physical withdrawals, but the emotional toll and the cravings. I had to learn to differentiate between my addiction's voice and my own. Those cravings---those were my addiction's voice telling me to drink. So when they hit, I reminded it that I was in control. That I don't want to drink and all other voices telling me otherwise where symptomatic of the detox, and an inevitable (albeit uncomfortable) step to sobriety.
To illustrate, in a recent post I said that the in the early days, sometimes the only saving grace, the only reason I was sober going to bed, was because I didn't have my ID and stores were closed. And I felt a powerful sense of RELIEF from this; a "ahhhhh I made it another day." That relief, that sensation of having "survived" was all the evidence I needed that I truly didn't want to drink, and it was my addiction telling me otherwise. Those other voices held no power if I didn't allow them to it.
I hope this helps. Remember that although your addiction is compelling, with every passing day its potency is watered down, until one day, perhaps without even realizing it instantly, you will go days without it even being a big "to do". You can get there. You will get there if you commit to it.
-- Drink lots of water
-- Have someone with you who can get you to the ER if needed
-- Read up on withdrawals and DTs so you know what to look for and when to seek medical help
-- Don't be surprised if you feel like you have the flu or can't sleep or only want to sleep
-- Eat good, healthy foods and lots of fruit
-- Drink Gatorade, sports drinks, or coconut milk to replenish your electrolytes
And of course, don't drink.
