Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Happy birthday week...AnneL and I also are April B-day!
You are all so right - it is there - the serenity - the joy - the clarity - it is all there and I need to do what I did when I found all of that.
Meetings and prayer are what worked for me then and that will work for me now. I pray - but I have had no confidence in my God as I understand him lately. For me that means getting down on my knees and really turning it over because I just cannot do this alone - I just can't. I don' think any of us can do this alone.
Thank you so much for the reminders - I don't think I could ever come back if I drank and that's another reason I haven't had a drink in the past (almost) 31 years. The shame is what I could not take any more and I would do the same things that took me to that place 31 years ago if I started again.
I think staying in my pj's is a good idea. Thank you so much you guys. And yes - one day at a time we stay sober and it obviously does not matter if it is year 1 or year 31 - it is one day at a time.
God bless you all for taking the time to respond - I feel better than before I first signed on thanks to you.
Take good care xxx
