Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I'm still here:) I've had some tough moments this month, I find myself wishing that I could be a "normal" drinker and just have a couple of glasses of wine. I think it through though, I know where that would go and then I'd be back to day one.
I end my check in posts by thanking the old timers on here......I really mean it. It is so reassuring to know that you guys are out there. I've never been a big poster (or got involved in some of the fights on here:) but just reading your replies and recognizing your names has been a huge help to me. THANK YOU! Xxx

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I looked at your profile and see you are following a non 12 step route. it's not clear whether you are doing this alone or with some kind of programme. It is possible for recovered alcoholics or recovered problem drinkers not to miss alcohol at all so I hope you continue to look for satisfaction in sobriety by seeking new tools to help you, wherever that may take you.
I won't get into the whole Allen Carr philosophy but I do remember a part that applied to me.....what we (alcoholics) miss is the perception that alcohol relaxed us at the end of a hard day. It's possible and easy to get that feeling in other ways and so that's what I do instead.
I've heard a few people recommend the Alan Carr book and I'm glad it has been helpful to you.
If you still think about a drink after 20 months, there may be a missing piece of the puzzle somewhere. If you don't mind my asking, how have you stayed sober a whole 20 months?
Hugs,

I probably have been thinking about it this month because I'm moving (again) and my prior MO when I have a big project like packing the whole house was to stay up late with wine and get to work. I know that I won't drink no matter what the stressor because of all the steps I'd have to take to actually drink.......thinking, deciding, then buying it etc. I'm done for good:)
