Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I've been to AA before. I'm not sure that i'm ready to quit. But last nite i got wasted and embarrassed myself infront of my boyfriends family who i barely know. I have a lump o my head and i was told i puked all over their toilet. I didn't mean to get that drunk and i haven't been blacked out for years... I feel like the biggest idiot in the world. Normally i can control myself but i was drinking taquila so... i dont know. Any help for "the day after"or similar experiences?

I know this is stupid, but after not being able to find a job after graduation for almost two years, I ended up just taking an online teaching job because I couldn't find anything in my field. I was trying to get out of teaching and I feel so devastated. I felt this crushing feeling when I signed the paperwork and when I was in the meetings. I know that sounds so dramatic but it is how I felt. It...

Tomorrow is National Massachusetts Day!Have you ever lived in or visited Massachusetts? If so, tell us what's great about the Bay State!

Got to the point where I was convinced that I could not control my drinking, and that I was a real alcoholic. It's been 3 holidays since I had to do it like that.
Please keep posting!! Welcome!!! Glad that you are here!!

It will only get worse. Get back to AA and give it another shot. :-) Make 2011 a year worth remembering... in a good way.
All the best.

Ugh!!! I remember times like that!!! And I hope that I never do it again!
I don't do AA. For me, it was mainly getting fed up with myself and my drinking. I do good if I just stay away from that first drink but, boy!!! If I have that first drink, I don't quit until I pass out and I almost always have blackouts. And I've had some really excellent, individual counseling, which also helped.
If you want to quit, I wish you all the luck in the worldl I hope coming to this site helps you!!!
By the way, I am so very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how much pain you are in. My heart goes out to you. (((((Hugs)))))
I didn't want to keep embarrassing myself and all other areas of my life were suffering too. I have questioned my "readiness" to quit many times. My life was going to fall apart though - it was only a matter of time. Ready or not, I had to get help. I am in a much better place today than a year ago. I am still a work in progress.
Good luck.
I hope that you come here share and enjoy soberiety here....hugs bill
Welcome and Peace!
Part of you knows that alcohol will always come first and the other night just proves that. As I progressed in my alcoholism I had little or no control and lapsed into nightly blackouts. I set my fianc free because like you I felt I wasn't done yet. I was hurting him and my drinking was ruining our relationship.
No advice except apologize to him and his family. You may want to tell him you love him but you have a serious drinking problem.
