Agoraphobia & Social Anxiety Support Group
Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder, often precipitated by the fear of having a panic attack in a setting from which there is no easy means of escape. As a result, sufferers of agoraphobia may avoid public and/or unfamiliar places. In severe cases, the sufferer may become confined to their home, experiencing difficulty traveling from this "safe place."
My agoraphobia is a result of my severe panic attacks that i have been having again recently. They make me so fearful to go just about anywhere, in case I have one of my panic episodes in the car driving or even worse while im in public somewhere by myself.
I have been in so much fear lately and I absolutely hate living this way.
Does anyone deal or have dealt with the combination of panic attacks and agoraphobia?

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...
It's a struggle for sure. I feel for you. Have you tried therapy and/or medications? This is a difficult thing to beat alone.
I'm living the same way. Just today I bolted out of an exam I was taking before I could finish because of the panic attack I was having. Something about being confined in a room with the social expectation of staying put (i.e move theaters, restaurants, classrooms, job interviews, the car) really triggers panic attacks for me.
You're not alone in feeling the way you do.
I don't have a perfect solution, but medications have definitely helped me in the moment. I told my doctor what was going on, and she prescribed me Lorzapam to take as needed when I felt a panic attack starting. It's not a cure all drug, but knowing I have it in case I really need it helps me get out of the house.
I am prescribed Xanax, but I hate to use it unless I absolutely NEED it! So sometimes I allow my panic attacks to get even worse than they need to be cause I try to push myself without taking medication.
I know that’s not idea but I get a little guilt every time I use my medication; like I wasn’t strong enough to get through it by myself.
