Agoraphobia & Social Anxiety Support Group
Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder, often precipitated by the fear of having a panic attack in a setting from which there is no easy means of escape. As a result, sufferers of agoraphobia may avoid public and/or unfamiliar places. In severe cases, the sufferer may become confined to their home, experiencing difficulty traveling from this "safe place."

Hi everyone,
I have been suffering with social anxiety for years and I feel it is largely due to growing up in a controlling family and not having any siblings. I have a few close friends and can function very well. No one can tell I have social anxiety, except maybe my parents. I find myself overthinking about social interactions and always wondering if I said something wrong, something stupid and overthinking what people might think of me. I joined this group as part of my class project as I am studying counseling and need to discover more about myself in the context of group therapy.

For westerners, this is the other side of the world, where everything is exotic and unfamiliar. Piracy is still a problem on the Java Sea, and English is not widely spoken. The Java Sea is about 1,600 km long, 400 km wide, and loiters loosely between the islands of Borneo to the north, Java to the south, Sumatra to the west, and Sulawesi to the east. The equator is a few degrees north, so...
I can relate to your post. I am an only child also. My parents were really strict. I have always had a hard time making friends. I’m very quiet, because I too always worry that I’ll say something stupid and people will not accept/like me. I’m always being left out. For example, at work all of the coworkers include everyone in everything but me. Even family events, I get left out of. I long to be more sociable and have more friends. I’m a very nice person, I just don’t click with people on friendship levels. It’s just so hard and I’m tired of being this way.
