Agoraphobia & Social Anxiety Support Group
Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder, often precipitated by the fear of having a panic attack in a setting from which there is no easy means of escape. As a result, sufferers of agoraphobia may avoid public and/or unfamiliar places. In severe cases, the sufferer may become confined to their home, experiencing difficulty traveling from this "safe place."
Usually I work full time and have been place on the sick for two months and counting....
I get to this stage about every two to three years and have a major dip - this is my fourth. accompanying this is poor sleep pattern, hyperactivity, constant fatigue, but the killer is anxiety and saocial anxiety.
It would be nice to have somebody in the same time zone to talk to!
Dont be discouraged by your attacks, I know I have improved before so that encourages me that I will recover again. You will improve but first of all you need to give your body and mind a chance to rest / switch off. Do relaxing things or try to do something you enjoy.
I have made my goal to attend appointments as I have treouble going out. I made it today, but dont know if i will tomorrow., When it is a toughie I ask for support from somebody, a neighbour or friend.
Keep on keeping on - it will get better. Panics do not go on and on - eventually your parasympathetic system will kick in because your heart can only pump so fast for so long, your muscles tire of the tension, the panic will subside. At hte time you think you are gonna die, but hey - Ive had loads just today and im here to tell the tale! lol
Sorry its a long reply, it is a good website and community,
the support wil only increase.
My family try to support me but they don't really understand but I am very grateful they are around me.
I find it hard to talk to people and think as soon as they look at me they know everything.
I guess I just want that "normal feeling again". You are doing very well and are a strong person. thanx for the support and vice versa.
Weare all unique individuals - there is no such thing as normal because that imples we are abnormal and we most definitely are not.
you ust have to see the replies and advice people give..
it is quite NORMAL. for you to feel this way
it is a NORMAL reaction to what has happened....
do not set your bar at the height you think ' people see it should be' instead set your bar to the level you can attain because then you will get comfortable attaining that level and you can raise it an inch at a time. before you know it your bar will probably be higher than a lot of peoples
more importantly though, i'm realizing instead of getting depressed that i'm cooped up i have to focus all my energy and time on trying to beat this.
this isn't a life sentence. we just need to find our own ways of coping and support :)
