Agoraphobia & Social Anxiety Support Group
Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder, often precipitated by the fear of having a panic attack in a setting from which there is no easy means of escape. As a result, sufferers of agoraphobia may avoid public and/or unfamiliar places. In severe cases, the sufferer may become confined to their home, experiencing difficulty traveling from this "safe place."
Hey everyone.
Ive been in a bit of a rut lately. I’m constantly tired and have no energy. Having frequent headaches. Also, I always feel like I’m in a bad mood and take it out on my family. I know it all comes from stress and worrying. I have a difficult time connecting with people and making friends. I’m always worried that what I will say is stupid, which leads to me being extra quiet and not making friends. I have no problems talking with people in passing or on a business level. It’s the friendship level I have a hard time with. I’m so tired of being left out, having no friends, feeling down on myself, and always being in a bad mood and taking it out on the ones I love most. I don’t want to be this person anymore.
Was as wondering if you all have ever been prescribed medication that helps with mood and socialization? I’m to the point where I am going to make an appointment with the doctor. But, then again I feel like I can’t totally put into words what it’s like and I’m scared they will think I’m stupid too.
Any tips would be appreciated.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

For westerners, this is the other side of the world, where everything is exotic and unfamiliar. Piracy is still a problem on the Java Sea, and English is not widely spoken. The Java Sea is about 1,600 km long, 400 km wide, and loiters loosely between the islands of Borneo to the north, Java to the south, Sumatra to the west, and Sulawesi to the east. The equator is a few degrees north, so...
I have been prescribed mood stabilizers and anti-depressants on a couple of occasions. I didn't stay on them very long. Just talking to a sympathetic counselor helped more than anything. I know that I'll never be all personality, charm, warmth and popularity, but I'm ok with that. I am in a long-term relationship that doesn't have room for a lot of outside interaction, and that's all I really need. We met on Daily Strength nearly 10 years ago, and I retired from work recently, so life is better now.
Journalling here has been helpful for me, but I still don't feel comfortable opening up to strangers, except in a very controlled way. Luckily, the privacy controls seem to work well. Trying to find new friends can be risky business, especially when you are feeling vulnerable. I want to send you invitations to a couple of other groups that you can opt out of at any time, but I think we have to be friends for me to do that. Use DS as a tool to explore your feelings, and enjoy what it has to offer. Never forget that there are a lot of terribly messed up people on DS; never take on their problems when you already have enough of your own. Ignoring is sometimes good.
