Agoraphobia & Social Anxiety Support Group
Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder, often precipitated by the fear of having a panic attack in a setting from which there is no easy means of escape. As a result, sufferers of agoraphobia may avoid public and/or unfamiliar places. In severe cases, the sufferer may become confined to their home, experiencing difficulty traveling from this "safe place."

hey everyone :)
Im new to this site and group. i hate leaving my house unless its absolutely necessary (maybe twice a month) and when i do leave my house i always have to bring a friend with me, if i go alone i cant stop thinking of the worst scenario happening. My family doesn't really understand. They are always saying i need to go out and get a job or do something with my life.. i guess they think im lazy. They don't understand what anxiety is, they don't think its a real disorder.. im looking for new friends i can talk to, people that understand so if anyone ever wants to talk message me :) i wish everyone the best!

Hello Lyndsea. I am so glad that you came to this group. I totally get what you are going through. I only leave the house twice a month. Mostly to go to doctor appointments. I try to shove everything I have to do for the entire month into those two days. The anxiety, panic attacks, depression is hard to understand if you don't go through it I guess. My oldest brother who is also mentally ill keeps saying that I need to get out there. Go clubbing. Date. I am like dude I can't do those things even if I wanted to. My family has treated me so weird ever since I got on disability. Like I am damaged goods. My mom is pretty good with me. Dad is not sure about it but he doesn't bring it up. My sister in law/ ex best friend said that I need to get over it. That I am riding a gravey train by being on disability. That I need to get some nuts. She said some very hurtful things. I also felt like I was holding her back from doing fun things because I get physically sick when I leave the house. Even leaving my house and going to her house next door was nerve wracking to me. You are a wonderful person.

I can totally understand. The other night I had a panic attack inside my own house and couldn't stop shaking.

On Saturday, while I was at yard sales with my best friend, my lawn guy texted me that he did my lawn. This costs me $70 every two weeks or so. I don't have great grass so sometimes, he skips. Anyway, I paid him on CashApp when I got home. On Sunday morning, he texted me again, to say goodbye because he was moving. My little thinking cap went on and I thought about how I am healthier...
