Check with your local community services or services for low income people. Here, it is called the community action program but you also might be able to find it if you google dentists who donate free services. I did that and found a dentist to pull an infected tooth and fill a few cavities for free. I needed a cap on a front tooth and the dentist found a company who would donate one which saved me about $1500, however, just to be able to see this dentist took a long time, about 5 years. The waiting lists for the few dentist who are willing to donate free services, is very long, I was told. I think the only reason why I was picked was because they contacted me and asked me if I wanted them to keep my name on the list so I wrote back a big long letter and told them how long I had waited and that I had an infected tooth that was broken and needed to be pulled so they found someone right away for me. You might have to keep bugging them b ecause they are human and they forget.

Consult with at least 2 or 3 dentists in your locality before making a decision. It would be better if you could talk with their previous patients.
