Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
I had originally found this site and posted some info on her February 19th. March 4th we found out she had relapsed and we went to vanderbilt the next day. Induction ran from march 8-13. She has a history of slow recovery and as of today she is still rock bottom count wise. She is 37 and was originally diagnosed early may 2012. Just praying these counts get up soon. Our home is 200 miles from Nashville in Mississippi and I'm ready to get her back to our 11 and 6 year old boys. They just got going on the donor search so we anticipate some consolidation chemo down the road. Thanks for listening.

I've been burning up the road between Nashville and Saltillo, ms (200+ miles) the last 3 months while taking care of an 11
and 6 year old but it's been worth every second of it.
She will have her final testing and bmb done on sept 30th and we hope to be home for good by that Friday oct 4th.
I scan the site every few days to follow your stories. I have seen an influx of new stories and it breaks my heart because we were right where you are in May of 2012 and I know how it feels. Just hang in there and battle and pray is all I can say.

It is so, so good to hear from you and to know that Hayley's SCT is working out. Your family has just been through so much to get to this point - I am so happy that it sounds as if your toughest days are behind you and that you have every reason to look forward to a full recovery for Hayley and a return to happier days with your children.
