I am SO encouraged by Hayley's good news. What a relief it must be for your family that things are finally moving forward! My Dad will likely do his SCT toward the end of May or in early June, as well, so I will be very interested to know how Hayley does with everything as far as that goes. Thanks for keeping us in the loop on Hayley. I had foot swelling and the biopsies. I used a cream and eventually the rash went away.
I am hopeful a match will be found and she can move forward with the transplant. Stay strong.

Shane -- hopefully the rash is cleared up by now. I had it all (and I mean ALL) over even in my eyes. I did not trust the cream they gave me so I tried it on about three square inches where I could see it. Next day it was cleared up there only -- made a believer out of me -- next thing I was rubbing it all over. They gave me two -- one for the itching and the other to heal the rash. If one does not work, get them to give you something else -- something will work. But I would try it in a small spot first just to make sure it is the medication that is doing the trick and not just normal bodily healing. Take care -- dave

It's been about a month since I've given an update on Hayley. Today we found out a date!! Making the trip to Nashville on June 18 for a bmb then checking in the hospital on the 20th. Begin 2 days of chemo on the 22nd then 3 days of radiation leading up to the transplant on the 27th. She has been feeling great lately watching our boys play baseball every weekend and feeling normal. At times you almost forget about it. Excited to get started but scared at the same time but we know this is the beginning of the end. We check the site almost daily keeping up with everyone's stories as much as we can. We don't know you but we feel like we do. Wishing everyone the best.

Shane, thanks for giving the update. Isn't it a relief to just have a plan in place? I love when there are actual dates to start looking forward to instead of just the waiting, waiting, waiting for what you know is supposed to be happening? Of course, we all know that plans can and do change, but sounds like Haley is doing well and I pray that her plan falls easily into place without any bumps along the way. Come on June 20th! Great news!

Shane - It is so, so good to hear from you. Thrilled for the news that things have progressed and that you have a date in place for SCT. It is so wonderful to know that Hayley has enjoyed this time with your boys - good for all involved to have some sense of normalcy! We will look forward to continued good news from the Harringtons! We could use some prayers. Hayley is scheduled to arrive at vandy Monday the 17th and have the transplant on the 27th. This afternoon her 62 year old father died unexpectantly of a heart attack. She is an only child and they are were very close. We are in total shock right now. Thank you so much.

My heart just sank. I am so incredibly sorry for your wife's loss, especially as she embarks on such a difficult journey. I recently lost my dad and my heart is broken. I hope that Haley can take a bit of comfort knowing that her dad is now right by her side every second of the day. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Oh, Shane, I was so sorry to read your post this morning. How devastating for Hayley, and for all those that loved her dad. Wow, this life can feel so cruel sometimes. I wish you both comfort, peace, and resolve as you move through these next days before transplant. I know that the emotions of this period are intense enough as it is- to throw grief into the mix must just feel overwhelming.

I look forward to the happy news that SCT is behind her and that the next part of Hayley's journey back to good health has begun in earnest.

Shane, So sorry to hear Haley lost her Dad. My heart breaks for you both.
I know he must be with her in spirit. I lost my mother 6 weeks before I was diagnosed. I felt her love and spirit with me as I went through the induction and consolidations.

I am so sorry to hear this. I'm close to my Dad also. I can only imagine her grief during this time. Many prayers going up for the entire family.
