Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

Let's celebrate.....and let's be patient with your counts. Patlets gave me bad moments, too, while on consolidation. But one day at a time.... and suddenly your treatment will be over.
So, so happy for you.

So happy to hear your good news! Platelets are fickle things that's why the normal range is so large as it is easy for them to fluctuate. I hope your consolidation is uneventful for you.

My husband, Sal, also recently finished consolidation#3 (finished his chemo for that round on September 6). He is still neutropenic, but his counts have come up enough already that he didn't need any infusions yesterday. He is also chemo-only with 4 consolidation rounds planned. He is 44 and we have a daughter (17) and a son (14). I feel like we are on a similar path, and we will keep you and your family in our prayers.

A fourth consolidation is no guarantee at this point. It is all predicated on how well my counts recovery this time. My docs say because I have been getting chemo for six months (including induction) waiting 2 plus months for my counts to recover to add a fourth session may not be value added. They also reminded me that there is no data that shows four is better than three-they just prefer four. I am at peace either way, three or four, because I know ultimately Almighty God is in complete control and His will be done.
Blessings,
Julie
How awesome for Sal's counts to recover so well at this point in his treatment!!! I must admit I am jealous :-) I am not familiar with Trisomy 8-so glad he is on the chemo only track.
Thank you for the prayers-my family will be praying for yours as well.
Blessings,
Julie
I am sooooo into bubble mode. I have not been in a public setting-store, church nada since diagnosis in March. You should see the cleaning rituals I put my daughters and husband through when they come home. They are troopers and put up with my mania.:-)
