Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
Bone marrow biopsy shows no leukemia and no MDS! Very good news. Now I get my labs once a month and the docs every 3 months.
My cell counts are almost normal now. Still below but I can live with it where it is at. The onc said I have a 70% chance of staying in remission. And if I get through this next year without relpase, he will expect an 80 to 90% cure.
I hope this news is inspiration for others on this site that it is possible to put this beast down.

Today I had my checkup. Days of anxiety, a few sleepless nights...and then seeing the blood tests - normal! YAY! And I have three months off until next checkup.
Two more checkups and I'll hit the 2-year mark, which means chances of relapse become minimal.

I can't tell you how happy that made my rainy NYC Sunday. I guess I will have to leave the computer and DANCE AGAIN!. 3 months off! A Lifetime it seems. I have NO DOUBT you will reach that 2 year mark which will be the greatest birthday ever! (until 5) :)

My dr also said the longer we are in remission the less chance of relapse. Abby you are closer to the two year mark than I am. Almost there.
