Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
Jack is in icu with sepsis. We were fine three days ago.
His legs got swollen and he couldn't walk. We had no idea he had an infection. He wasn't feverish but had the chills for a short period of time. In a span of a few hours he's sedated and intubated. He's extremely swollen and bruised. Extremely low neutrophil counts. Blood pressure is down to the 50s. Heart muscle suffered as his tryponin levels were high. He's on antibiotics vasopressors and dialysis. We are all in shock. Docs say mortality is at 80%.
Just prayers for God's will to be done as we are unsure of the road ahead

I'm heartbroken over Jack's passing. He fought so hard, was so brave, & endured so much. My thoughts are with his wife and two young children, it hits too close to home and I can only wish they somehow find peace in this confusing and impossibly difficult time.
I'm sorry for you as well and I know you are grateful that you guys got to spend time together throughout his battle perhaps you otherwise would not have.

I know that God works in mysterious ways and I want you to be comforted that Jack is in a good place. Nevertheless, I am so sad and sorry that you lost an amazing brother. My sister is like you. I could not have survived one minute without her at my side. I wish Jack was as fortunate as I have been. No words can describe my sorrow for you and Jack's family.
