Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

I was extremely worried about the extubation as I know he was not going to be sedated but comfortable knowing the extubation was going to be painful. I was also scared that once he wakes and knowing how terrible his physical body was that he would give up all hope and be sad. So as God had planned he was given extra sedatives and relaxants and he actually waited until his kids arrived to see him and then went home to be with the Lord. Throughout the last two days of intubation he was sleepy and not responsive but half hour before his kids arrived and his wife said it's ok and everything will be fine, he blinked his eyes. What a wonderful God we have and we are so blessed that he had this past year and being fairly healthy to spend time with his 3 and 4 year old kids. He wanted us to know that he is ok too.
I am so sorry to hear that Jack passed, He was very strong and brave for putting up such a long battle. I'm praying for some peace for your family, Jacks wife and his children.

I am so so sorry to read this news. You have been such an amazing sister supporting Jack and his family during this fight. I am just so shocked as I know you and your family is. Knowing that Jack had such young children makes his loss so much more heart wrenching. For those of us fighting the AML demon that have children to raise, this loss hits home.
Having peace with God's will is such a blessing. Having Faith in God and the hope of being reunited in heaven is what gets us through. I will not pretend to be able to empathize with the pain Jack's young family is dealing with. Please know I'm praying for God's peace.
