Superstarz- I wonder if that Scalpicin stuff that people use for chronically itchy scalp would provide any relief for you. I don't know anything about it, and if it was the result of changes in the skull it might not help. However, as your soft tissue loses all that swelling, it is conceivable that the nerve endings would be super sensitive. It took quite a while after my surgery before my sense of smell got back to normal.

Hey! How long exactly did it take your sense of smell to come back? I think I might have had that scalp thing... I just thought it was from wearing my ponytail too long or something. Weird.

I can't remember on the sense of smell. Easily several weeks, but it took a while for the tissue to heal, stop oozing, etc. so that I could trust what I smelled.

Could you tell me how long it took before your smell came back, my daughter lost her smell and taste 18months ago and doesnt think it will ever return. Thanks

Tell her not to give up hope. I have a friend who was ejected from a car and woke up with the back of his skull against the curb and his olfactory nerve crushed. It took years, but he can once again smell and taste- much to our surprise!

I also have the sensation at times where part of my scalp is very sensitive, very similar feeling to when my hair is tied up too long. Haven't found anything to take it away when it happens. Just wait it out

This time around it's lasted pretty much for a week now, not as bad as day 1 but still hanging around, damn nuisance.

Just had to add I had the ear problems too,MY right ear felt like it was stuffed up the doctor just passed it off as alleriges too.It was also my right eye that would swell so bad, and the right side of my face, and jaw that hurt.I felt like the right side of my body was really weak. Boy if I could go back..

Me again, just wanted to add that I lost my sence of smell several years before we found out I had Acro.No one could figure out why.After about a year it came back.Never had any thing like that again.

Ever since my last injection middle November I've had the funny sensation in my head again,just doesn't seem to want to go away this time, I'm just wondering if maybe it comes when the levels have dropped, I need to ring my endo today to see if my levels are holding and if I will have my dosage lowered or the amount of time in between injections stretched, my next one is due in 9 days.

I also have a prickly feeling in the top of my head (not the sides or back) and it's always very tender to touch, like it's bruised or burnt. And yes! it's very difficult to describe. Sometimes even the sun makes it hurt. I've had it for years now. I think it started off with just feeling somewhat itchy - just on top of my head. I think this may have been during peri-menopause. Now I'm well into menopause and it's gone from feeling somewhat itchy to the sore and prickly stage (about a year now). About six months ago, I developed alopecia areata - three spots on the sides and back of my head are bald. I also have overall hair loss - not just the normal amount of hair loss. My doctor doesn't know what it is. From what I have been able to research - my best guess is hormone imbalance. So I've recently started a hormone balancing diet. It's been about a week and I think the top of my head is a little tiny bit not quite as bad. But I've had it for SO long that I think I'll have to maintain this diet for quite some time if I want to see results. Fingers crossed. I wish there was a doctor who could shed some light on this odd condition. I am scheduled to see a dermatologist in November but I'm not holding my breath for an answer. Sorry - I just realized this is a thread about Acromegaly. I don't have that.
