Welcome. If you come to visit for the first time and have some questions feel free to ask. PM someone if you like but don't stay a stranger. We were all in the pit. We know a way out. No condemnation and no hammers. Just ask and prepare to make a load of friends.
Okay Gary, let me see, I went to a meeting on Sat, Mon and plan to go Thursday and probably Friday. I'm picking up my sponsee is why I've been going more lately but at least 3 meetings a week works for this gal and different meetings. There's a wealth of information at different groups also.
Love ya BBH but you really need to check out some Crest Whitening Strips!
How cool is that?
Yes Mark sobriety is grand but for me I might add its also a GIFT
Running late to the meeting I usually go to on Thursday night so am going to a 7.30 meeting that is one of those that if its not in the BB your not your not doing the program right. Should be interesting.

So the big question is this:
Did it answer a lot of questions for you to learn that the complete picture of alcoholism includes some sort or physical abnormality vis-a-vis alcohol? Did an alcohol-induced craving for more alcohol answer some questions about why you often felt compelled to drink more despite circumstances or good reason to the contrary?
I know it did for me.
Man takes alcohol, alcohol takes alcohol, alcohol takes man.
It pretty much told me I am an alcoholic.
Already been. Step 6 & 7
My intent this weekend is to read the book Drop the Rock, removing character defect. Its been collecting dust on my coffee table and someone mentioned it at the meeting today. I believe I will take that as a sign and read it.
And you??
So far, pg 5, "Liquor ceased to be a luxury; it became a necessity" - "I still thought I could control the situation, and there were periods of sobriety which renewed my wife's hope"- "I told myself I would manage better next time, but I might as well get good and drunk, and I did" - "Should I kill myself? No not now" , and so on..... I am glad to be rereading this story of the horrible slow process of alcoholism.
I have been writing my life story which has surprised me that I am nearly finished. It wasn't easy and I resisted many times... The mapping of dates of using and relapse has been quite eye opening for me. The similarities of Bills' story and the progression of the disease in my life is truly uncanny but not unique.
I'm having a grateful sober day friend and I hope you are having a good one too!
