  Hi  For anyone new joining and just being diagnosed there is light at the end of the tunnel!    Following surgery in November to remove a 12mm GH secreting pituitary tumour I had my main follow up's yesterday.   The inital presentation had been through heart failure leading to excessive high BP and fluid flooding my lungs, the  left ventricle  heart walls were extremely thickened meaning the heart could not pump well.  SO,  Neursuregry, as expected all good nothing there by MRI, ...

  Hi GuysJust spoke to my endocrinologist post my operation on 1 Nov, there is light at the end of the tunnel!!   Was diagnosed with severe heart damage in April which it was decided was caused by Acromegaly.  We then found a wee 12mm tumour on the pituitary.   The heart damage precluded operating early so was given sandostatin for 4 months prior to operation on 1 Nov.   During the Sandostatin treatment my feet shrank!  Operation went so easily, great ENT and neurosurgeon involved.   ...

  Had my surgery on 1 Nov and am back at work today.   Surgery at Western General in Edinbugh (Scotland),  transphenoidal, seems to have gone perfectly, tumour removed with no major resection of the pituitary required.  no external swelling or bruising, I  was on paracetamol only, for pain relief within a day. So far recovery appears to have gone perfectly, but still on highish doses of Hydrocortisone. See endo  mid Dec and assume all will be settling down again now that Octreotide will...

  Nutrition and secretary tumoursThe above link appears to have some useful and informative information on nutrition while undergoing Octreotide therapy.   Looks like supplements and fibre are the order of the day.  V unhappy about possible need to cut back on martini's, wine beer and fatty foods.  Guess it's good for me but you only live once, enjoy it.Life is more than just a read through!cheersJohn
