worried
this morning my son came home from staying at his friends last night and goes right into the bathroom
when he comes out he tells me he has been thinking about suicide
instead of getting up and giving him a hug I tell him to go to the emergency
they did blood tests and urine and now he is waiting to talk to someone
I feel bad for him cause Im poor and I cant afford shit for him
no sports, no extra activities at school, one or two new outfits for school
we dont even have enough to buy good food... just what we need to survive
cant afford to even get some of the things his friends have
I grew up poor so I know how he feels

Poverty doesn't mean unhappiness. It just means needy.
I doubt his suicidal thoughts are based on being poor.
Learning if his state of mind is Depressive will help to determine if he will need meds.
I knew at an early age what poverty was like. I knew what hunger and being passed from one family to another was like too. Abuse, one school after another....
His mind set also comes from you. How much love and caring you show him. Talking openly and often about life in general. Letting him understand that your there for him, at least as a father, friend and support.
Good luck...
poverty dont mean unhappiness for some... some are content in living in the gutter... but I know I wasn't happy being the poor kid in school and hate it even more now
money really buys happiness... just some peop[le like I said are content without anything
but thats not fair to our children... us adults might be content but for our kids they may not be
I'm just speaking from my own experience here... I was not a happy kid so I dont expect my son to be either
just for example... in school would you feel better if you had to walk to school or drive to school in your own car?
you cant say nobody would feel better about having the car
but money aside I do what I can with what I get and try to get my son the things he needs... as for things that he just wants he works for
I heard thousands of stories about people losing their kids to suicide... and most of them say they thought their child was happy
