Working our for me and no one else!!

I used to play a ton of sports, I went running every second day for an hour + a 15 min cool down walk and the alternate days I went for an hour & a half walk, as well I played field hockey. I was incredibly fit, around 170lb with muscle, 5'8" (same height). I had definable abs (I miss the most), my legs and arms were very muscular and you could tell without me flexing. I used to feel incredible. My knee got severely damaged while running one day and I further damaged it walking home (normal day-20 to 30 min, hurt knee nearly an hour) and I never carried a phone while running, it was my time to escape from the world. When I hurt my knee (back in 2009/10) I waited to see a doctor, thought it was minor, when I finally went in because it constantly flared up while walking/not doing anything I had to get an absurd amount of x-rays, I was told it was deteriorated cartilage then told there was no deterioration at all...and back and forth... I went to Physio & it did nothing. I got severely depressed and stopped caring, it felt like I'd lost the one thing that made me 'me'. I dealt with the negative emotions a while back and finally got a doctor who talked to me about it randomly while I was getting my wrists checked (carpal tunnel-another depression trigger) and he asked the story, told him about x-rays and he practically called every doc that saw me an idiot, ordered an MRI and said I probably tore the cartilage and need surgery (since it's been so long). Got the test but never got the results (got so busy with my best friend being hospitalized & being in school).

I am now working to get back into shape, being mindful of my various injuries but not allowing them to control what I do. I have a home gym now just down the hall from my room with all my exercise equipment, my sister's and her boyfriend's. I want to get back into shape because I want to, not because I want to look sexy for anyone or because I want to be noticed. I want to feel healthy and happy, I want the workout high I used to get, I want to feel good in my skin and get the body I used to have! I'm not someone who needs to flaunt it, I'm simply someone who needs to feel good about having it.

I'm not very big as it is, yes I have a few pounds too many, but honestly, I look pretty hot.. I took pictures of myself and saved them so I can remember what I look like starting out, and then can see what I look like as I progress. I feel really good about this. I feel good about doing something for me.

(Side note: tried to change get into shape goal to 5% with no luck from phone so going to retry later on computer) - I've worked out 3 days in a row now! :) good start!!
