Words for thought...
"There are people on shore who see you struggle and yell, "let go of the log!" But you are unable to do so because you have no confidence in your ability to make it to shore. To recover from disordered eating requires the development of whatever skills are necessary to replace the function of the log."
--Like my eating disorder, i don't let go of it because i am afraid of what will happen. it is my safety net. it is what keeps me floating. if i let go, then i may sink in the water. i am afraid of not being cared for, that iw ill be forgotten. that i won't be able to handle myself without attention and care.

Wow, we talked about the same thing in family session. I told Dwayne that while I\'m sick I am certain of his love and him taking care of me and when I get healthy I worry about him not being there for me as much anymore. So we talked about how he needs to reassure me more often that he loves me and will always take care of me as I get better. In reality I know that he loves me even more when I\'m healthy and do stuff but I just feel more secure in sickness than in health. So grabbing that log is super scary and maybe risky but so worth it. Carlos will love you for it even more.
omg, i feel the same way!!! as i have stopped losing and are deemed \"ok\" by everyone, i miss the attention, which i hated when i got it, but at least i was noticed and felt cared about. i still have ed but not to the extent people comment, as they dont know the daily struggles. logically, those people and carlos are relieved and love you, even more so.
