why is it so hard to find talented musicians???
is it because i'm looking on craigslist? but there used to be all sorts of good ones on there before. maybe i'm just a fucking snob, but, seriously, when i advertise that a drummer and bass player should know odd time signatures, why do they reply when they have no clue what i'm talking about? it's not really a matter of take what you can get when what you can get has no sense of dynamics and plays the same damn beat or sounds like he's falling down the stairs in no particular rhythm. shit, man, i'm not all that great of a musician, but i know what sounds good and what doesn't! and i know when i'm playing well with other people and when i'm not...
man, i was so disappointed tonight. i went to the bathroom and the guitar player started jamming with the drummer. from outside the semi-soundproofed doors, i thought YES! HE'S GOOD! and then i opened the door and all i could hear was the drummer. no sense of dynamic, no sir. when he played he hit HARD, and he was all i could hear in the room. at first i thought hey, well he's not so bad, just a little loud. but then when we spent 20 minutes having him try to figure out how to play in 7 and by then my vocals were already trashed trying to sing loud enough over him to hear myself, well, i made up a lie and said we had one more drummer to try out.
wattdafuk, man. so i'm a snob. i just want musicians who can play like they love music, like they know what kind of feelings the music conveys. shit. if i could make it work, i'd stay with my man and just to have him in my band. moody motherfucker, now wonder he was so good. he knows what feelings are inside and out. and why and how it works with music.
god, he and i have so much in common...
one day my musical prince will come. and i'm not talking about "the artist," nor the knight in shining armor. i just know that one day it will be a way i make some money and really enjoy doing it. believe, believe. cuz if ya don't, ain't nobody rootin' for ya.
p.s. got some moving money saved...

I am impressed you are musical! Maybe your ad could attract better people if you used specific references -- I could be wrong but it sounds like maybe you are into the math rock scene? I love the Don Caballero-type stuff myself. Maybe I\'m being naive and that\'s exactly what you\'ve been doing -- good luck with it
thanks! the music\'s kind of all over the board, so it\'s hard to specify. math rock, huh? maybe i should throw that in there. :)
