Why does a full tank of gas make me so happy??
Yeah I did it...DAY 2!!! I know this is a small feat given the fact I am basically broke right now. I feel like I am in the fight of my life. Yesterday for the first time in months I filled my gas tank full. Why does a full tank of gas make me so happy? My only thought is that as a compulsive gambler we want to keep money in our pockets. We always spend the minimal amount on necessities (if at all). I know for myself I would put just enough gas to get me to work and to the casino. That way I had more money to gamble with. The problem is that I always left the casino broke and not enough gas in my car to make it back home. I found myself counting coins just to put a few dollars of gas in my car. I have actually had to lie to my boss and tell him I had to work from home for such and such reasons because I had no gas in my car. Luckily my boss is flexible because I have a fully functioning home office. But he hates when I change my home schedule. I hate the stresses caused by my gambling addiction!! It is apparent this addiction affects all areas of my life, marriage, work, family, finances, children, health etc. But today (even though it may be dumb) I am happy that I have a full tank of gas and I am GF . I can testify (lol) that a small thing like a full tank of gas is \'progress\' for a compulsive gambler. like you said: our money was for important stuff: gambling. not food, gas, clothes, bills, none of that really mattered.
I\'m still surprised when my account is not negative on my paydays. I used to USE all of my overdraft, every drop! it feels good to get a full paycheck again. and not gamble with it.......whew!
