What about me? Don't I matter?
Once again, it's been a while since I've been on here. I know I tend to disappear, but always return when uncertain. It seems that when things seem to be going well, something inside of me screams so loud that it's not. That there's still darkness strangling me from the inside out. I just can't get it to let go of me. I know that my problems are not that major. I know that all these issues that I have on my mind are stupid and ridiculous. Yet for some reason, they tend to magnify so much that it feels like the end of the world.
Things seemed good for a while, work is progressing, I'm doing exactly what I wanted to be doing 5 years after I graduated, except I only graduated 3 years ago. A great achievement I should be proud of. I'm even studying to get a Project Management Professional Certification, another thing I aimed to do, get something higher than my BA. I just finished the training and aim to sit for the test in August. Another thing I should be happy about. I'm still with my boyfriend, at 8 months now, very serious. I'm still going to therapy, 2 years later.
I'm struggling at home though. It may sound ridiculous, but my dad set an 11PM curfew. Yes, at 26 years old, I have a curfew. That is not my problem. I've abided by that curfew for 6 months now, even though it meant barely seeing my friends because they don't go out before 10 and I have to leave by 1030 to get home at 11. My problem lies in the fact that for the past month my siblings (all of which are younger, including a 13-year-old) have been coming home at 12, 1, 2, and 3 in the morning.
It's incredibly annoying and unbelievably painful to have to go through this, because I can't seem to say anything. I can't get my mouth to open. Partially because I don't want to fuck it up for them, partially because I'm going to break down when I talk to him, I'm going to be like what the fuck do you have against me that I'm constantly being punished. Why am I the one that always needs to change, needs to come home early, needs to modify my personality, my needs to suit his, to satisfy him, to please him? He's always saying he's too old to change, well why do I have to contain who I am, so that he can be happy with himself? And why do I care if he's happy if he doesn't give a shit about what I want. If he wants me to be someone I'm not. It's funny, many of my work projects are in KSA nowadays, possibly one if not the most oppressed countries in the world for women, yet the days I'm in KSA are the days I feel free, because I'm not under his roof, I'm not under his control. I'm not his property. I'm so sick of being treated like I'm there to please him. What about me? What about how I feel? Am I that worthless that I don't matter in the tiniest of things?
