Weight Loss Goals
I started a program called Noom on September 16th, 2019: "welcome to week 10". My starting weight was 242.8lbs, I feel a little nauseous typing that number, to be honest. I used to tell myself I would never weigh more 140... then 160...then 180...then 200...then 210.... After that I think I stopped saying anything to myself. I can't believe I weighed over 240lbs. I don't 'look' large, per-se. I've been described as "curvy", but never fat. I had the cutest thing said to me by a friend... he said he would still be attracted to me if I weighed 200 pounds.... I bit back a laugh, and said "sweetie. I already weigh over 200 pounds, but thank you for the sentiment." He was really sweet about it, and it made me feel really good about myself. Flash forward to today. I share my exciting news with my husband, I now weigh 225lbs. I'm down 17.8lbs. In two months, I've lost almost 20 pounds! He shared my excitement for a moment, then asked what my ideal weight is. I told him realistically, it's 165lbs. I say realistically, because at 18 I weighed 120lbs, and I don't expect to get that small again without A LOT of hard work. Back then I was a runner, and sustained a severe knee injury with led to severe depression. So my realistic goal is 165lbs. His response... "that's a lot to lose." Yes. Yes it is. I'm down almost 20lbs in 2 months, that's another 60lbs. Do I need to be reminded that it's a lot? No. I don't. I was so hurt by him taking away from my exciting moment, that I honestly won't be sharing my progress with him anymore. I don't need to feel demoted. 165lbs will still have me wearing medium-large clothes. It's not unrealistic to want to fit the size that most adult women wear. My sister, who's basically two years older than me (1 year, 11 months), is a size 4, and weighs probably around 110lbs.. If that. She and I used to share clothes, regularly. My mother, was extremely small when she was younger. It's genetically possible for me to be that small again. I have never been a large build person... To be demoralized, and basically told my goal is unrealistic... I've never felt so bad about my body as I did today. I just keep replaying what my friend said to me. His reaction to me saying I weighed more than 200lbs already was one of admiration, and beauty. He expressed that it didn't matter, I shared that I had lost weight and he looked at me as if I was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, and said I didn't need to lose a pound. Why can't my husband look at me that way? Why do I feel bad about myself, because of something he said. He's never made me feel this way before, I just feel so hurt. I can tell my emotions are more eratic than usual, per my last journal, my brain is experiencing weird emotions which I can't explain... I'm just angry. And sad. I'm feeling a little defeated, eating my salad. Telling myself to keep my chin up, because I have accomplished so much, and I will accomplish so much more.
