Wednesday's sleep

was worn out all day from Tuesday's IRS scam... the call was fake, but the emotional response was real, and it drained me. Slept or dozed all morning.
My neck was KILLING me all day (9 of 10) ; took some Hydrocodone around 6pm; the pain laughed and pointed. Took some herbal treatment; better results. Turned out the light before 9, but i was too antsy to sleep until at least 10. Hardly woke at all until 7AM, feel *pretty* rested, will still take it easy today; cancelled an appt. with Janet for today. My neck still hurts but at least it's down to 5 or 6.

Hey there Jack.Glad you had some decent sleep.Insomnia is something I struggle with constantly. All the natural meds don\'t work and if I take sleeping pills I always get side effects.Any ideas?

Not really, Di. I try to keep to a strict sleep hygiene schedule -- computer and phone off at the same time every night, read by white or yellow light until the same time every night, make my room as dark as I can... sometimes it doesn\'t work. If I\'m still awake after an hour, I stop trying to go to sleep and do something else. Usually, eventually I fall asleep -- but sometimes it\'s not until 2 or 3 or 4 or not at all...

Just got back from an appt. with my Pdoc; he wrote me a rx for trazadone (sp?). It\'s supposed to be a short-acting, clean sleep aid. (By clean, I mean it clears your system quickly and doesn\'t leave you groggy. We\'ll see.) I was on it for a while when I was in the hosp last month and it worked for 2 or 3 nights, then stopped. Today\'s rx is for a bigger dose. I\'ll let you know.

So, bigger dose of Trazadone last night... I was a little late turning off screens and reading light and was wide-awake until almost midnight. The Traz kicked in fairly quickly, and I slept from 12AM to 7, then 10, then 12. I expect anyone with CFS/SEID understands how I could \"wake\" three times in one morning... It\'s like a whale coming to the surface to spout for a moment before sounding to the depths again for hours...

Seems like the Traz is similar to anesthesia for us... It\'s EASY to do too much. I\'ll have to get a pill-splitter or ask the pdoc for a lighter dose.
