We lost Amos today.

Amos our strange, yellow dog was hit by a car today.  Tim was out working on the yard, not very far from the highway.  A squirrel ran across the highway, and Amos went after it.  The oncoming car tried to stop, but could not avoid Amos.  He died instantly.

It hurts.  I'm struggling to see through the tears as I type.  Amos had just turned 4 .........  but.  Yeah, there's a "but".  For the past year, Amos had been having seizures.  The seizures had been getting progressively worse.  Nothing we could afford helped.  His last seizure was about 3 weeks ago -  a series of seizures that lasted 3 hours.  We held him and watched him, to keep him from harming himself and choking on his on tongue.  I wish he were still with us, but maybe it is better that he went quickly.  As much as it hurts,  if Amos had to go, I'd rather he go quickly - with us knowing what happened - than to find him in a severe seizure in his last minutes of life, suffering for who knows how long.

I have taken several photos of Amos.  I will post a 4 photo collage of him in my next journal.  The last images I took of him were not playful photos, but videos of him in seizure, to show the vet.  I chose not to focus on those videos.  The photos I share with you ...... that is the Amos I wish to remember.

Please pray for Allie, and especially for Lizzie.  Lizzie and Amos grew up together.

I am so sorry for your loss and for what he suffered (and for what you had to endure as well). What a terribly sad thing to have happen. You and your other fur babies will be in my prayers. Much love.

Ohh, I am soo sorry for your loss. I know how much that hurts, especially when your dear friend is taken from you suddenly. Yes, quickly is always better, but the tears are bitter.

May you all be a comfort to one another.

So sad Nancy. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Maybe it was God's mercy that Amos left his physical body so quickly rather than continually struggling with seizures. This world is certainly a difficult and painful place when separation of loved ones occur. Even though we understand the presence of the eternal soul within the body, the loss just hurts so much. It is brutal and this is certainly not our original home. Amos will of course never cease to be. Time will heal your pain. Hold onto the love you shared .I'm really sorry for you. Sending lots of love to you.xoxo

Nancy, I am so sorry to hear about Amos. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved dog. We also had a dog that suffered seizures - it is hard to watch them struggle with that. I am glad Amos is not suffering anymore, but I know he will be missed!
