Warm weather is such a trigger

When the weather starts to warm up, as it is now, I see the sun and it makes me want to jump in my car and race to the casino.
A little thrill, a little excitement. Sometimes I feel like the sunshine promises so much adventure, but it rarely delivers on its own. The casino made me feel like it really was summer in my heart. I felt the thrill, the excitement, the invigoration of life that a new season can bring while I was rolling the dice or "calling" the cards as they would come out.
I miss it so much sometimes.
But the truth of the matter is, the pleasures I have now, 273 days gambling-free, are different. They're smaller, but they run deeper. They aren't as thrilling or exciting, but they are more meaningful and gratifying. When I think about the good things in my life now, they put a small involuntary smile on my face. Conversely, when I think about gambling, I tense up, I get sweaty, my heart races, I do not smile; it's "false pleasure," it's intensity, it's not true emotion, it's Addiction.
I know this, and it's hard. I think the Addiction sees the sun and wants to run out and party and do whatever the hell I please and tell the world to fuck off so I can have some adventure. But the more peaceful, gentle, wise part of me knows that only leads to more and more destruction. And I need to overcome this. Learn to associate the sun with nature's beauty shining, not the need to get out and fuck shit up. (Excuse my French).
