Update
Hi guys,
I know it's been many months since I've written an update. However I do think of you guys often and I feel your support on this journey of ups and down.
Maybe you remember the ordeal back in August with my daughter, Summer and her husband. They were arrested at that time but they have managed to get charges dropped as they worked with the detectives. They say they are clean and Summer is pregnant again and due the end of May. I did not see them at Christmas this year but I have had some very neutral contact with them and I did invite them to come by on Christmas Day but Larry had a motorcycle accident on 12/22 and wasn't able to get out.
My work is keeping me very busy and I launched my new website on 12/1. I've been accepted as a teaching aid for the CranioSacral 1 course coming to Birmingham in September.
I still am getting many wonderful signs from Justin and just yesterday coming out of the grocery store, my phone started playing a song from a band he used to be in. I only have that one song from his band in all of my hundreds of songs I have on my phone. Also I just got back last night from my brother's Lakehouse over in SC and there was a beautiful white Dove hanging around. I immediately thought of Justin. They said they had never seen the bird before. So I think he is around but I still miss him so.
I'm also in training to be a hospice volunteer. I've actually done this training before as I've always been interested but since Justin's death I feel I may have something more to offer.
So I have more to say but I'll wait. As much as I love my daughter, I feel I have to limit my contact with her. Hopefully she is clean but her attitude is very toxic and she doesn't take responsibility for her own decisions. But I pray the baby will be ok and hopefully she will be a good mother if she can stay off the drugs.
Thanks again to all of my SOTH!
Love,
Deanie

You are amazing to let Summer figure her stuff out...sometimes I wish I more of that with Hillary and Jared. They are both doing well, but sometimes they do not take responsibility for their own actions.
I am very happy for Summer and like you...hope she is free of that drug demon...it is so powerful.
So proud of your opportunities to teach and also to lend a compassionate heart to hospice.
Gentle care my friend...and I always love hearing of how Justin reaches out to you...Karen
You are living life fully, Deanie, and I'm excited for your new ventures ahead. I did hospice volunteering many years ago before going into chaplaincy and it was transformative. Just remember not to wear perfume or any kinds of fragrant lotions. I forgot and one time a poor patient of mine kept thinking he smelled a "fire" and we figured out that it was lotion I had on. I never forgot again! Oy!
Hoping this baby gives Summer a reason to continue to remain sober and sometimes that it the turning point for so many. You are wise to allow her to live her life as you are living yours and oh, it isn't easy, that's for sure!
Great to hear how you are doing and feeling and way to go with all that you are involved with. :)
Justin has been busy letting you know he's with you and it amazes me how they do come in. I really cherish those moments as well.
Hand in hand, Heart to heart,
XO Joanie
Hoping for the best for the baby and that you can have some well deserved peace, Hugs, Kathy
