Update
My husband finally got a room in ICU, he has been in the Emergency Room all this time. I came home to tend to the dogs and shower, ICU visiting hours are 8pmto 10pm at night, no visitation from 5pm till 8pm.
He is still on a respirator, stomach pump and urinary catheter. He was extremely miserable today. They had him on minimal sedatives and I had to beg, several times, for stronger medication. They finally saw what was going on and maxed out. He was pulling on everything, pointing to his catheter and his throat...all I could do was say, "I know honey, just try to relax", but he couldn't. He was able to follow instructions, lifting one leg at a time, blinking eyes, squeezing hands and answering questions with a nod or shake of his head. I am very relieved that there seems to be no lasting damage so far and that they are finally keeping him comfortable. I am terrified that he did what he did. He took a pile of medication and went to bed. Had he not fallen from the bed and made noises he might have went to sleep and just not woken up, and I would have slept through it.
I have to be strong for him, and I have to make a concerted effort not to wallow in my grief and guilt. I have to, he lost Cassi too and has had to hold me up all this time. I can't lose him too.
Thank you for your prayers and good wishes...I truly believe it has helped both of us. You put good energy out into the world for us and we feel it, and it will come back to you too. Please keep it up.
I will keep all updated as I get new information. As of now, he is resting comfortably and we will deal with the rest as it comes.

This is great news! I'm convinced that your husband will recover fully, and that this unfortunate happening will draw you both closer together. Just take one day at a time, and remember to breathe. You are a very brave lady, Gina!
Warm hugs!!! xxx
I've been checking in and thank you, thank YOU for letting us know. Yes, the most caring and healing prayers and affirmations I've been sending that you feel lovingly cared for by medical staff and all those you come into contact with. You are Steve's voice right now and his best advocate so please, please take the best care of yourself that you can so that you can be there as you are for him.
You can do this, are doing it and lean on us all that you need to. We are all here for you, Gina, in any way needed.
Deepest of inhales, exhales and lots and lots of pauses and sighs in the midst. Does the hospital have a chapel? Most often that is one of the most calming places to BE when you need a quiet moment for yourself.
Loving, loving care and the most intentional of healing prayers being sent.
XO Joanie
We manage, some way, to draw on our hidden strength when we need it the most. I will hold you both in my heart and thoughts. You are a very strong woman, we all are and you are correct, your husband needs you now and you got this!
Make sure you look after yourself as well.
Really tight hugs lady,
xoxo Merrilee
Hugs and strength Gina.
I have been thinking of you all day. I am so glad things are looking up. It is hard seeing your husband so vulnerable. Joe was in ICU for 5 days and it was dreadful.
As Merrilee said, we draw on our hidden strength when we need it.
Still sending positive energy. I hope you sleep well tonight.
Love and tight hugs, M
I am sad for both of you... I can only imagine the pain you have both been living... I wonder if somewhere in the future you and your husband might find an answer in living for others... Its hard to think we have the strength... sadness takes a lot of energy I know... Sending hugs and hopes that there will be someone in your circle that you can talk to... just someone to hear you out. Hugs Elissa
Gina, I just saw your posts just now as I was super busy yesterday. I am So sorry that this has happened.. Sounds like you don't have good support but you have your friends in this group and we know some of what you're going through. So hang on somehow for him. And maybe this may be some kind of turning point for both of you.. I'm praying for both of you and feel free to call or text me this weekend. 205-223-2740. If you want to talk. Leave me a message if I don't answer. I know Cassi is by your side. Just know that . Deanie

Your update sounds encouraging Gina. You and Steve have been through so much. It's a wonder any of us survive our child's passing. I will continue to pray for both of you. Tight hugs, Linda ♡ ♡ ♡
