Therapist disappeared for a while
I was suppose to have an apt with my EMDR therapist three weeks ago - she didn't show. didn't call. When I tried to call her, her voice mail was full. I was scared - really scared. I realized that I care deeply about this person I meet wiht once a week. She is an older, caring , smart woman. I cried - alot. She called about a week later, very apologetic. She went into the hospital for a routine procedure that didn't go well. But she is home and gettimg better now. I then felt, MUCH better. After hearing that she is ok, No dissociation. No body memories. All pain has vanished - strangely - for more than a week. it's odd. Is this what happens when you are away from therapy for a while? after a major scare?

That sounds terrifying! I'm so glad your therapist is okay. I hope your lack of pain etc is a sneak preview of where therapy is taking you!
I have never gotten this attached to a therapist, although many do. I am happy she is better and you are feeling better
I am so glad she is doing better. How scary for both of you.
I do feel that what you experienced was normal but I also think it was a trigger. It is normal to worry about someone you care about but probably not dissociate or have body memories. Those were triggered because of your past. Perhaps this made parts of you feel like they had been abandoned or to blame for what happened to your therapist. Whatever the reason it's worth exploring with your therapist omce you return to your sessions. ((hugs))
Thanks Everyone. LuckyEmpath - I appreciate your insight regarding feelings of abandonment and blame. Never really thought about it that way. thanks.
