The trap

We all have this idea that the day will come where we no longer feel angry, sad, fearful ashamed, frustrated, jealous, envious, humiliated, embarrassed, or anxious on a regular basis. We all have this idea that one day we'll reach some sort of promised land and feel better.
I thought I was there, but then I got sick. Again. Worn down with stupid obligations like dropping off the dogs at the groomers and the mundane things like my car needing repairs yet again. Just what felt like never ending boring shit, over and over and over and over again.
Normally this would've sent me into gambling. To escape for a while. To make me feel like life had some excitement or some enjoyment or some adventure again.
But then I realize that life is ups and downs. It's learning how, even in the deepest of the downs, to just keep moving forward, onward, upward. How to resist the urge to shit all over everything when you're feeling uncomfortable. How to acknowledge, "Hey, today I'm a little off," and not judge yourself harshly. How to keep things moving, even if you're not knocking it out of the park for a day or two here and there.
Life doesn't have to be perfect to be worthwhile. You don't have to be perfect to be worthwhile. Nothing wrong with relaxing when you need it.
