The Power of Words

Words are a powerful weapon. Whether negatively or positively, words can leave an imprint more influential than any other. I personally have been affected by the words of others, mostly in a negative way. But I've always dreamt of having the power to use my words to influence others in a positive way. Even if it's just one person.

While I still believe that the battles I've overcome are not merely as difficult as those others face on a daily basis, I've always dreamt that through my words I may somehow guide someone who's struggling to seek help. I may remind someone who has lost themselves that they are worth of more than they think. I may stop someone from picking up a blade and hurting themselves once again. I may stop them from wanting to end their life.

I know I have not yet overcome all my struggles, but I am conscious of the progress I've made to date. I struggled with many of my problems alone, isolated, afraid, thinking no one would understand. I now know that many others out there feel the same way I once felt. Sharing my stories may bring them relief, knowing they're not alone. Knowing there's hope for things to get better. How to get better. But my problem lies in the fact that I'm a coward. I can never share my stories so publically. I also cannot write a completely positive book, as I have found that my words are weak when the topic is not of a dark past or of mere raw emotion.

I do hope that one day I am able to make a difference. That I am able to utilize my words to help someone. To show them they are not alone in whatever pain they struggle with. Help them seek the help they need.

You are very thoughtful. I bet you have helped others and not even known it. Something as simple as someone holding a store door for you or even a smile and a friendly hello can do wonders when I am feeling down. Life can be scary at times. Thats for sure, I try to take things one day at a time. I really enjoyed reading Your Journal.
