Taking the cats on a stroll for the first time

Ok so I'm a crazy cat lady with four cats: Sheldon, Penny, Bernadette & Leonard. (All named after characters in The Big Bang Theory tv show).

So, being overweight I thought I'd start walking more and being a cat person I thought I'd take my cats with me. Consequently I purchased a "pet stroller". Well my kitties all have different personalities and reacted differently on their stroll. Basically it went like this...

Sheldon FREAKED and tried to chew a hole through the mesh so he could escape. Penny jabbered incessantly the entire hour. Leonard was a little hyper and after he realized we weren't going to the vet he almost enjoyed it. Bernadette screamed hysterically at the top of her lungs the whole trip to the point it was embarrassing.

I'm not sure which one is going to be my designated walking buddy yet. Need more practice. Not Bernadette for sure.

I used to walk in the woods with my cat Tobey. No stoller or leash, we walked together. He showed me a magical place where moss grew on rocks, with deer trails in and out. It seemed like a fairy place, something from Midsummer\'s Night Dream.

You could try a cat leash. Maybe they associated being confined with going to the vet and other unpleasant memories.

Actually today I tried them one at a time on leashes in the backyard. 3 of them did ok, but one of them would only walk backwards lol.

This is the first time I\'ve ever had indoor kitties. I use to live in the country and I had a pet door. My kitties enjoyed the great outdoors and one of them would go jogging with me. Then housing developments started popping up all around me and the coyotes in the area started losing their hunting grounds. Consequently they started getting people\'s pets. I lost all my cats in one night.

I had to move to the city when I lost my job and I live on a busy street. I\'m not comfortable letting my new kitties roam outside, but I\'ll keep practicing with the leash.
