Taking Financial Inventory Today

Well today I finally have the strength to take a financial inventory of my life. I have been ignoring my financial responsibilities for so long I really do not even know how much debt I have.  So I am going to set up a budget to pay my bills, pay for my son's graduation party and allocate the rest to my living expenses.  I make great living there and I do not have much to show for it.  I want to change that through my recovery I know my financial situation will improve if I stick to my budget.  It took me a mere 9 months to get into this severe financial mess and it will probably take me at least 6 months to get out of it.  But today I am hopeful I can do this (8 days ago not so hopeful).  It is payday this Thursday and that was my trigger day.  Since I am a "closet" gambler" I would have to lie and make up some excuse I had to do something work related.   This payday I want to do the right thing.  My son is graduating from high school next week.  I am planning him a graduation party and want to get him the gift he has wanted for a long time.  If I do not gamble this week this will all be possible.  I am praying to my higher power.  I am seeing my therapist tomorrow.  I plan to call into the GA Telephone Meeting tomorrow.  I want this recovery to last beyond this week.  I deserve it and so does my family (especially my children).  Thank you everyone that has helped me this last week.  It was a hard one.   I know I still have a large uphill battle but it is so nice to know I am not alone.  Take care and have a GF day...  xoxoxo Chargergirl

You GOT this. I can\'t want to see a picture of your son\'s graduation party, I can\'t wait to hear how you are able to do the things you get to do, because you are in recovery!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU GOT THIS, your son will not only have a reason to celebrate is graduation, but his mom, is actually present for the celebration, in more ways than one.

I love the hope in your \"voice\".....you have come such a long way in your recovery and am so proud for you. Doesn\'t it feel good to be able to pay bills and have money left over? Your son will be so surprised with his gift, I only wish he knew the real gift he is getting....a mom who is thinking of him and his well being instead of how to feed her addiction.
