Stick Me With A Fork I'm Done
I struggle and struggle with faith. I have as an adult had a number of very ugly unkind church experiences and I no longer go to church at all... Did you know that people in the church can be just as ugly to fat awkward people as the rest of the world... I I'm so tired of people and their ugliness... Most of the time I just shut the door and try to move on. I do feel bad about so much rejection... but the truth is... I think I should feel sorrier for those whose souls are so ugly...

I had the same thing happens me..I stopped going to church and I mistakenly blamed God for the way I was treated by His so called Christians. Then I found true followers..kind people that represented the real love of Christ. I wish you were close by so we could just love on you. Half of the women in our church are overweight, so no one can point a finger..lol. Don\'t give up on Christ because of some clearly broken, misguided idiots....much love, Lauri
I see religion and church as something separate from faith. You don\'t need a church or doctrine to have faith and beliefs.
Yes people can be just as ugly to one another in church as anywhere else. Humans are my least favorite animals.
I used to go to church and I thought I had a true belief in God and a Big Faith. But now I have no idea what I believe. Everybody \"thinks\" they are right and there is no other way. Oh well, what the H--L? I agree people that claim to be Christians can be the meanest and most judgemental of all. Hang in there Sweet Girl...Big Hugs, Nell
I for the longest time always thought that \"Christians\" were somehow different than other people and they should somehow act BETTER. than everyone else. BUT Christians, non-christians, whatever they believe makes no difference in that there are mean, stupid, judgemental people everywhere.
I had to realize that as Christians, we believe in Jesus and the goal is to let Christ transform us little by little, but we all fall short of this at times. I am so sorry that you have had this experience....I have had it, too and it hurts and alienates us when we just want to feel not so lonely and be understood.
I so agree with you - people who are ugly to others are miserable people.
((((hugs)))) Vicki
I am sorry you feel so hurt again, sweet friend! People are people everywhere. I too am bitter about how people treat me/have treated me. It has happened both in and out of church circles with me. People who go to church are sinners too and sometimes they are just not aware. Again, I am so sorry you feel ostracized! It is miserable to feel unwanted! Tight hugs from me! I personally feel you are wanted here!!!
I decided a very long time ago that fine upstanding people who claim to be Christians can be quite self serving. I know a very few people that I would consider to be living as true Christians. I sang in a church choir and saw from the choir loft the one upping going on. I cannot judge people and lifestyles. Most religions shun wonderful people because the are different, whether it be overweight or gay, another faith etc etc. Instead, I see myself as a spiritual person. I do pray for people but it is not to a particular God. I pray to the universe.
I lean towards the Buddhist faith. I love the fact that the Dalai Lama said that being a good person is what is important. He said if you are going to be a Christian, be a good one. If you are a Muslim, be a good one. The terrorists who say they are Muslims are not good Muslims. Our mayor on the other hand is.
Oh wow. I\'ve done it again; gone on a rant. I guess what it boils down to is the fact that if belief in the Bible gives you peace, I am okay. In fact I admire people who are so certain. I feel bad when people feel guilt when they feel they are losing faith.
Okay, I am done!
Love and tight hugs,
Marlene
I\'m so sorry and I hate the word \"suck\" yet the bumper sticker that says, \"Mean people suck,\" is so true. No matter where they are encountered it is just exhausting.
Heartfelt (((hugs))) of care,
XO Joanie
I totally understand, about being looked down on, because of your weight. I have gained so much weight, since Dean died, that I hate to even get out in public. Even with manicured nails, nice clothes and hair done, I still look ugly to some people, simply because I am fat and oh yes....let\'s not forget age discrimination!! I never knew some people would just dismiss me, because of my age.
Yes, there are mean people in church and all walks of life. Just try to hold your head high ignore people, who do not see your beautiful spirit and kind heart. You are very loved here!!
((((HUGS)))) , Julia
There are very few vices left, in California, where I live, there are these: fat, poor, handicapped. It seems so stupid and silly, that only these conditions, so often not our fault, are so hated. Kindness is undervalued, and truth is unknown. Sometimes, I feel undeserving of all the love I feel flowing towards me. Being old is ok, but looking old is not! as Popeye says: I yam what I yam.
Humans are such hypocrites! And yes, I too have have more than one occasion where a \"good Christian\" has thrown some pretty ugly words, accusations, and judgements my direction. It hurts. And it causes anger and resentment to sometimes find a foothold in my heart. Which then just gives me something else to stress over and try to overcome!!
I\'ve finally, finally (I think) reached a place within my self that is so self-assured, that anyone can say or do what they will and I know it\'s truly not a reflection of me, but of them.
Uglyness is hurtful words and actions which cause someone pain and self doubt. Beauty is LOVE, friendship, kindness, and encouragement. Doesn\'t have a damn thing to do with the human shell we are temporarily stuck in.
BUT, that being said, I will say this; I\'ve met you, face to face, and I saw with human eyes a very attractive human. More importantly, I saw with REAL eyes, a VERY beautiful woman. And hey, I\'ve seen you in your nightgown! LOL!
You hang in there beautiful!
those so called \"Christians\" are my own brothers..... they are the main reason I have stopped attending church... I am so sorry you have been hurt... but my eyes are leaking now ....I might not attend church services but I have my faith.... love and hugs to you my dear friend...
I know so many \"Christians\" in name only.. they act mean and nasty and purely evil at times.
I don\'t go either. (usually) unless my husband drags me.

Dearest Elissa, I understand fully what you say. Yes, I have also had many bad experiences with church members as well as church pastors in the past. That is why I do not commit to any church anymore. Yet I serve God and I trust in Him completely, because there is no-one else who understands me, loves me and cares about me the way our Lord does. Yes, there are too many 2-faced, hypocritical people in our churches today, and I have been hurt and rejected by those too many times in my life! So I just stay away from the people, but I will serve the Lord for as long as I live!
I struggle with faith too - in that I don\'t understand the universe and for me no one theory, be it religious or science, explains it all. I don\'t think attending church has anything to do with faith or Christianity. If you don\'t act like a Christian then you are not one. Personally, unless a faith is about love first and all encompassing then I want nothing to do with it - when David was first diagnosed, a woman who lives in my neighborhood ( who is extremely \" christian \"....) came up to me in the grocery store and said \" God is sending you a lesson, you should listen \". Well, I want nothing to do with THAT kind of god! You are right about ugliness - it comes in many places, shapes and sizes and very often in a pew on Sundays!! You are beautiful and strong - and whatever you believe is right for you on your journey. Don\'t ever let anyone tell you otherwise, dahling. Joanna x
Yes the money changers are still in the church or temple or any organized religion. Yet the true meaning is not there, it is how we live and care for ourselves and others. Isn\'t that the commandment. Love yourself and then love others. Hoping you have some peace today. Hugs, Kathy
