Some Updates & a Dilemma
I heard from the RE and am super happy that all 3 embies made it to freezing! We now have 5 little totsicles (thank you, Laurie for my fave new word). All 5 are the same grade: B/C. Apparantly, my clinic never hands out A grades, so the best they give is a B. I'm not sure if I should feel concerned that these are B/C? I really have no idea what this means in terms of quality, but I'm assuming its not too bad since all 3 eggs fertilized and made it to freezing?
I also saw a new doctor yesterday regarding my gallbladder. I wasn't feeling very confident since my previous doctor and surgeon were not in agreement if I should actually remove my gallbladder or not. Seems they were not feeling 100% certain that my gallstones were actually symptomatic or not and now that I've been doing well with the meds they prescribed for the reflux (omeprazole) they think its possible surgery isn't necessary. So anyway, the new dr. I saw yesterday is one of the top in his field and was highly recommended, and he thinks I should not have surgery, that we should just move ahead with the transfer! He was really reassuring and informative, and I totally trust him. Also, he told me both his boys were IVF babies and to be very encouraged by the process!
So the new plan is to see my RE on CD3, but we won't do the transfer until the following cycle, so probably mid-June for the transfer. I found out that I need to have a hysteroscopy to remove some polyps and a very small fibroid that could cause an issue with implantation. And of course, the timing for a June transfer will really suck since it is right in the beginning of my busiest time at work. I haven't told anyone that we are doing IVF, or even TTC for that matter, and I really do not want to tell anyone. I know I won't be able to handle it if it doesn't work, or worse, if I m/c and everyone at the office knows. But, I'm afraid I might have to come clean because there is no way I will be able to take anytime off for transfer, and I know work will be super stressful for me then. I'm considering saying that I will need some "female" surgery and leave it at that, but I really don't have a good plan as of yet. So any suggestions on how I should handle this are more than welcome :)
I'm excited but nervous. I have waited soooo long for this, its been a year of setbacks working towards IVF and now that we are in the thick of it, I'm sooo nervous it won't work. I want to much to be optimistic, but it scares the hell out of me at the same time!!!

Don\'t worry about them being Bs most babies are made with Bs! My RE told me that once.
It\'s such great news that you won\'t need the gallbladder surgery and can continue on to transfer, yay!!! I am truly hoping you will be a first time success story. We need some happy news on here.
As for telling the job, it\'s truly none of their buisness. On the transfer day, you\'ve come down with a horrible stomach bug and have to call in sick, and oh no your still sick the next day. Well I\'ll be by the third day your feeling better and back to work. Must\'ve been something you ate :)
They\'ll get over it. I wish you luck and hope June comes quickly for you.
5 totsicles is amazing! It\'s hard how this is the first parenting decision / life work balance struggle. You\'ve got to do what\'s right for your family and it\'s not always clear how to balance work and life. I struggle with this all the time... Will they do the hysteroscopy in may and then transfer in july then? Excited for you!

Awesome news that you have so many totcicles and that you won\'t need surgery! I\'ve never had IVF so I am not sure how many days you will need off but I agree w Alana that it\'s none of their business. Just call off for a few days. Very excited for you!

5 is wonderful!! Since you will only be going through a transfer you should only need 1 day off at the most. A transfer doesn\'t hurt, I took a full day so I could rest after, but i was back to work the next day. Hopefully your work will understand needing the 1 day. The pain in the ass is when you have a retrieval and then a transfer either 3 or 5 days later. I know it\'s all nerve racking, but I pray that after all you have been through this will work!!! :)
5 Awesome embies!! I\'m so happy you won\'t need surgery, like others said don\'t give any details at work. I usually will tell all my male bosses that it was a female procedure and they didn\'t ask questions. So excited for you!!
Well I\'m glad you were able to have five. That\'s a great number. I think the first number is the grade of the embryo as far as fragmentation, etc. and the look. So the B is good if that\'s the highest your clinic rates. The second number is usually the expansion grade, as in whether it\'s an expanded blastocyst. I could be wrong, but that\'s how many clinics rate it. So you have good expansion since you have a C rating. And for the second number, you want to move closer to C or D, not be an A because then it wouldn\'t be expanded at all.
It\'s interesting they don\'t want to remove your gallbladder. I\'m glad you have the blessing and support and advice of a doctor who believes you\'ll do fine without removal. That\'s great!
Lastly, I would def tell your office \"female\" surgery...which is true. LOL - That word usually scares people and prevents them from asking further info.

I second the saying it\'s \"women surgery\" that\'ll take you away from work. Most women will just nod in sympathy and all men won\'t want to hear anything more about it LOL

5 is great and I\'m so excited that you have a plan for transfert !!! As for work I\'ve always used the female operation at work and it\'s easy because people don\'t ask questions about that.
