sleep is elusive
trying to keep a decent sleep schedule is nearly impossible for me. My anxiety loves to keep me awake some most nights while others I have to stay up in order to finish homework. I've been feeling the effects of it too. I've been seeing shadows come to life and try to creep up on me. I've had night terrors where I think I see someone in the room with me or trying to get closer to me. I look so dead everyday and my eating habits are starting to suffer because of it. I wish I had some way to knock myself out quickly at bedtime and stay asleep.

If I didn't take several things nightly, I'd never get to sleep. I developed a severe phobia of insomnia that I've battled for years. I take valerian root, liquid melatonin, sometimes xanax, and when the anxiety is really bad I'll use benadry to knock me out. One benadryl is usually enough, sometimes I take 2. At my worst, I've taken 2 and just laid there, helpless and heavily drowsed. The other night I had a massive panic attack at bedtime and it was all I could do to keep myself calm until about 2 in the morning, when I finally, mercifully, fell asleep.
Make the place where you sleep as comfy as possible. Sleep there only. Sometimes it helps to eat something. Avoid caffeine like the plague. I hope you find the rest you need. I try to remind myself that I don't find sleep, it finds me, and that I don't really have to do anything.
Try using your bed only for sleeping, not reading, studying ,thinking, etc. Set your mind to go to bed in peace and get up in peace. Try going to bed same time . Journal whatever is on your mind if racing.
