Seven weeks

It's been seven weeks since Gene's death.  Just writing those words brings on the pain again.  It's the reality of it all that hits me so hard and brings the tears flowing.  The house is so quiet without him.   My sister called yesterday and I was crying so much she ended up coming over for awhile and just gave me that sister hug that I needed.  Later last night my friend stopped by and I did manage to hold it together for awhile. She has twins that are 2 years old now, and her stories about them got me laughing.  She's very animated when she talks, and just watching her trying to imitate them was very funny.  Then when everyone's gone, it's just me alone with my grief again.  My sister wanted me to go to the mall with her yesterday, but I just wasn't up to it.  I get so overwhelmed in large stores I sometimes can't even remember why I'm there.  I'm lucky to have a small grocery store near the house where I can go to pick up what I need. Today I'm thankful to have so many people around me helping me through this difficult time.  This includes all of you who have been so open with your feelings giving me hope that, in time, healing will begin and life will go on.
