Session 10

Just finished with Jessica and I'm feeling pretty good. I was drained going in because I had my second vaccination yesterday, and I've felt more emotional than usual (from exhaustion), but it was good overall. We kept the session pretty light, discussed how the baby shower went, how getting through it gives me reassurance for our friends' wedding (I'm maid of honour now but was supposed to be either 9mo pregant or carrying a newborn). We decided that a piece of jewelry to symbolize and honour the unborn baby would be a way to carry the memory through, acknowledging it, while not letting the sadness overwhelm. I want to feel like it's okay to be sad, okay to remember, but also that it's okay to be happy and joyous as we celebrate their new adventure. Julie suggested a rose quartz pendent as it apparently represents unconditional love. I like the idea of that, it sounds beautiful. I'll be asking my SiL Jess to help me find one.

We spent a fair bit of time talking counsellor to counsellor, which I enjoyed. Talked about the different designations (CCC vs RCC) - the only distinction being that one is Canadian and the other provincial. Neither is better, but I'll probably go with RCC through the BCACCas it's more recognizable for clients.

At the end we discussed our impending 3 week break as she'll be on vacation, and I mentioned that I feel more ready to write 'the letter' but that I didn't want to do it with a long gap or with her being unavailable for a session. I'm still set on writing it at the park and walking after, though I didn't mention that portion to her. I think it'll give me the freedom to explore my emotions in private and burn off the anger in nature.
