SAD

This week @ work has been one of craziness and much sadness - a 13y/o girl @ the other middle school in the area, died last night after being removed from life support due to hanging herself. SIGH SIGH SIGH SIGH. She evidently texted her friends on Tuesday saying good-bye, etc and they didn't know what to do and now they are here attempting to deal with the aftermath....feeling guilty, sad, confused......A colleage is the nurse @ this middle school and is overwhelmed - the district did call in a crisis team to deal with anyone who needed to talk, etc.....

Yesterday, a high school student (11th) threatened to jump from a building because he was being bullied..took staff, paramedics 2 hours to talk him down..his mom works here @ my school and obviously is upset.....they have been in the ER for 24 hours, waiting for a mental health placement.....SIGH SIGH.......

I'm feeling sad, heavy and my heart is broken for yet another mom who finds herself on this journey.......

It's Friday and I'm so glad - feeling so tired.

Having been on this journey, we know how tough it is and it makes us feel just that much more for them. It also tends to make us relive the whole nightmare again for ourselves. You are in a care giving profession and that makes it all harder as well. My heart goes out to you but also for the moms who are suffering with loss and worry. Sending love and prayers your way, their way...

Oh Vicki, how heartbreaking for this precious 13 y.o.'s family! And the 11th grader and his family. Thank goodness he is safe. I pray he gets the help he needs.

Although I always felt compassion for the families I worked with as a social worker, after Eddie died, I felt the pain of my clients' suffering more acutely. Take care of yourself at this sad time. I found that recognizing that I was more vulnerable to taking on other's pain since Ed's passing was one way I could help myself. Nurses give so much of themselves anyway and then to have such tragedy around can deplete you.

Take care. Loving you and dearest Jennifer, Linda ♡

I'm brokenhearted to hear about these tragic events. Young people are so vulnerable to pressures. I will be praying for the friends & family of the young girl & I hope the boy gets all the psychological help he needs. I know that the mothers of these students are suffering but in different ways. It definitely has been a difficult week for you & I know you're beyond glad that the weekend is finally here. Get some much-deserved rest. Love & Hugs to you & your precious Jennifer, Donna XOXO

It seems like the really young ones, still in high school, or even middle school, usually involves bullying. Not always, but a lot of the time. Especially with social media, kids can find themselves under a constant barrage of cruelty. There are 2 Moms in my suicide of a child support group that lost 11 year olds. Kids will pick out a target, and attack like a pack of wolves. The target is further isolated when other kids, not the bullies, are afraid to befriend them, much less take up for them, for fear of becoming a target themselves...and for some reason, they seem to choose hanging. There have always been bullies, but it has been taken to a whole new level of cruelty. I don't know what the answer is. The bullied children are either afraid to report it, or do report it and nothing is done. I wish new laws could be enacted to legally punish them. It nearly always leaves a trail on social media...so sad.

Oh, Vicki... This is indeed tragic news and I'm sure as if you feel as if you have been given the double whammy. Please take care and there needs to be zero tolerance for bullying, yet just as Gina said what is being done when someone is brave enough to report it?

Loving care and prayers going out to these families. The devastation is forever as we so well know.

Oh goodness - I'm so very sorry to hear that for everyone concerned and you, too. There are no adequate words at times like these for both families as we all know, sadly. There's no making sense of any of it but still we lose our children so please take care of yourself, as well. Joanna x

Oh no....how horribly sad. My love and prayers for both families, as well as you and the nurse at the other school, and of course the kids too. I'm sure all are feeling completely overwhelmed.

It is so heartbreaking, and infuriating, that bullying causes such horrors to take place.

I pray too that somehow school officials, parents, and everyone involved can and will put in place REAL measures to ensure it stops. I don't really know what those measures would be, and it's sad that this even has to be a thing, but something HAS to be done!

Continue to take care of your tender heart and know you are being thought of and loved each day.

Hugs,
Teri
