positivitude

i had my first day at my new job today. i had some secret issues with the whole thing, but i am determined to remain positive. basically, the woman grooms dogs' heads in a way that is different from mine, and while they look good and i am an excellent learner, i still feel that my style is much cuter. much more aesthetically pleasing and cuddly in appearance. i understand that this is her shop and she wants things done her way. i guess my big fear is that i will forget how to do it my way. but i won't! i just won't let that happen. and she did show me and the other new groomer some amazing tricks that made the dogs look really good.
i was feeling kind of, how do i put it? yechhhhhy on my drive home. so much in my own head that i forgot to turn down the main street that takes me back to my house and found myself on my way to mt. hood in the dark and rainy windy roads. and i was hungry... not a good combination. so i made my way back home, mustering all the patience i had, and made dinner and brooded and texted my friend. then i took a hot shower and recounted out loud to my most faithful dog who was in the bathroom with me all the good things i had going for me. good things like i am smart enough, talented enough, and skilled enough to do things the way my new boss wants, and that gosh darn it she really likes me, and that this is how i can get her to lease the shop to me like she intends once she feels comfortable and i can go back to grooming my style. things like i am creative and musical and artistic in a city that appreciates these characteristics. things like it RAINS up here and i love the rain, and now i have  a cute little dining table i can sit at on my days off and make art whilst observing the blustery wetness outdoors. things like I DON'T LIVE IN SAN DIEGO ANYMORE!!!! and am finally in the northwest where winters get cold and summer days  are long. and i have a crazy boyfriend up here that loves me and is an expert snuggler and soother when times feel rough. and i have a beautiful apartment and a home with my big animal family and free wifi and a mother who is sending me all sorts of warm clothing so i can go to the mountains on the weekends and survive a winter with my virgin desert-borne blood. but portland winters are really nothing compared to most places...

congratulations on getting moved! it\'s too bad we can\'t trade days of weather ... then a lot more of the world would be a pleasant place to live.

lt\'s a bright, crisp wintery day here with a bit of old snow on the ground but it will probably get into the 50\'s today and melt the last of it. I generally like winter here unless it snows.

maybe you can give the customers at the shop a choice of cuddly vs. not-so-much ?! I was traumatized the first time I got a haircut at age 5 by the barber losing patience with me and getting rough, and to this day I hate having to get my hair cut.

it was bright and crisp on my end today, too. no snow, though. it\'s a nice change seeing mt. hood on my drive to work.

hehe your barbershop comparison is the same kind of example i use when i complain to my friends. how unfortunate for you that my example is correct...
