oh what a beautiful morning.......a thankful story

my small white cape cod with black shutters & a red door sit quietly in the north Georgia woods taking in the morning air.  a new dawn, a new day emerges.  the sunlight is soft........fresh, reassuring.......the light shines & shadows the leaves & bark of the stately oaks.
green acorns have been peppering the rooftop and sidewalk for several days now.........the giant oak tree is confused by the weather as much as the rest of us are.  it already feels autumn coming........just as bewildered children are being pulled from their beds to board the big yellow school bus on this late day in August.  carrying brown paper bags with juice boxes and new backpacks.......sporting new haircuts - scratchy school clothes, shoes not yet broken in capture tan summer feet.
and so the oak releases acorns not yet ripe.........like tiny missiles......shaking up my dreams and startling me awake.
i look at the rays of light and shadow playing on the wall of the kitchen........look at the patterns of the blinds.......there is a small triangle of sunlight in slanting rays........held in place by the pattern of a metal notebook spiral. i see the shadow of my head bending and rising as i reflect on these tiny wall pictures.  i reach up and make shadow puppets on the wall, ahhh the bunny wabbit with finger ears hippotty hopping along the wall......ever the child, always wanting to play. the ceiling fans are silently whirring round and round, the kitchen's refrigerator is humming in contentment.  the changing of the guard is coming soon.
earth will begin to etch beautiful colors, rich deep reds, golden rod and saffron yellows, cinnamon, sienna and nutmeg browns & lush sun ripened shades of orange.......gorgeous sunrises will begin to embrace a new coolness with each passing day.  slowly and steadily the leaves will transition and then fall.........chasing the slightest breeze as they find lift off and swirl through the air........we notice that it is time to pull on a favorite old sweater again........it feels good to sink our skin into the refreshing coolness.  it feels good to trade sandals for socks and shoes.  pumpkins and gourds will begin to dot the landscape of our front porches and our dinner tables.
fall is coming........in all it's glory.  it's is a very special time for the earth.  treasure it.........take time to notice how mother earth dresses and adorns herself so carefully and beautifully.  i see activity in the oak.......at first i assume it's a squirrel, but as i look again, it is a bird with red markings on it's head......larger than a cardinal.  God has gifted this little window watcher with a new puzzle to solve, who is this beautiful creature?  I see bits of green fly to the earth.......this incredible place we call home.
it's really something to be an earthling ya know.............to live in this place......our planet has such diversity of terrain, resources, people, adventure..........richness of heritage, grandeur........I would love to peer down into the Grand Canyon this morning...........but I am not unhappy to see the loveliness just outside my own front window.  Aye, it is grand too.
contemplate the glory and magnificence of each sunrise.........hold onto the morning light and know you are blessed........for eyes that can see, for useful hands, for a spirit than knows God.
Thank You Heavenly Father for another Good Day.

Now that the sun is just a wee bit higher, there are rainbow prisms dancing on the wall........so lovely.

I really enjoyed that link and agreed with so much of it. I think I\'ve probably written most of those sentiments in my journals at one time or another. It\'s always good to see them all put together like that! I\'m glad you are living in gratitude, always an excellent \"place.\" : ) I was thinking the same thing about fall ... sort of ... I like to try to enjoy each season for what it truly is, instead of lamenting this or that about winter, or whatever, just enjoy the good parts, I say. Fall is my family\'s favorite and there is so much to enjoy. Glad you are in there with me. God bless! xoxo
