Not alone

A friend gave me a bracelet for xmas that has "rise up" engraved on it.  I immediately thought of Maya angelou and her poem on rising up. I found this video:

she had some advice on taking people you love with you - in your mind - so that you are not alone.  I took that advice when meditating today.   I thought of fifth grade - sitting at a desk, drawing a special drawing for my teacher.  With me was Maya Angelou, my older wiser self, my old therapist Dr. S, and my grandmother.  My older self asks why I'm drawing this and I tell her because I want my teacher to love me.  I walk over to the teachers desk, hand her the drawing I worked so hard at and she says, "I find you even more annoying than your parents do."  This is not literally what she says, but she didn't really say anything so that is was I felt about it.  I went back to my desk and cried.  My older self tried to hold Belle (my younger self).  My grandmother is just utterly confused, she can see nothing but pure beauty in the drawing as the drawing came from Belle, who is full of beauty.  maya Angelou tells me that this teacher has lots of self hate and that her response had nothing to do with me - it's her own issue - and it's unfortunate she teaches such young people.  Dr. S , who once was a teacher herself, believes that children are especially vulnterable and has no tolerance for children not being treated with the utmost respect and tells me that this teacher should not be a teacher and shoudl have acknoledged the time and effort spent in producing such a gift. She feels a great deal of empahty for me and my hurt feeligs.   It felt good to be surrounded by such wise, different, loving individuals when dealing with this unloving teacher.

I thought of 6th grade.  I don't remember where I sat.  I also dont' have a solid impression of my teacher at the time.  I have a feeling something happened that keeps me from having too many memories from this time period.

I can understand why any child who grew up with your parents would think that any adult would think that she was "more annoying than your parents do". Which is so sad. I am so sorry Belle and any other parts feel that way. ((Hugs))

How wonderful though that you were able to bring in adults who do love children. Who love their creativity and can find the true beauty of a child. Your girls are very lucky to have you as their mother now - someone who loves them very much and loves them unconditionally. That is so heartwarming.

As always, your meditation amazes me. I have to agree with everything LE said. I love it that you brought in all those wonderful people to support and cherish Belle at that painful moment when she needed them. Your healing work is fantastic and Belle is indeed lucky to have such a creative, resourceful and loving mom as you.

I like how you divide into older self and younger self and how you managed to take people that you love with you in your meditation.
