movie night
I had 2 good days last week. Both days I woke up feeling not so great but went in to work , got caught up in it and adrenaline did the rest.
My son's birthday was last week, he turned 13..oficically a teenager OMG. He is a good kid, made no fuss when the day passed with lots of hugs but no fanfare. Made me more determined than ever to follow though on my promise to take him to the movies.
So Saturday night that's what I did. Since Friday was one of my good days, you know on Saturday I was feeling the effects. Tired and sore but determined. I found though that my temper was on a very short leash and many times I caught myself giving my son a rough time on a day that I'm trying to treat him. Got grumpier in the movies as my stomach/leg issue was particularly bothersome, my joints were hurting and I had to get up repeatedly to let people past. Other joys of being in the movies with CFS:
- Screen way too bright
- Movie noise waaay too loud, especially the ads
- Too many background sounds..popcorn crunching, wrappers tearing, whispering, chairs...aaargh!
But I made it through. Glad I did.
Yesterday I went to the supermarket. Had to. Coming off of 2 demanding days this hard job became much harder. I was done by aisle 2. Deliberately went to a smaller supermarket but it still took 2 hours to get through. I finally make it to the cashier and got pulled out of the line. By the time my poor foggy exhausted brain could wonder what was happening, the cashier had offered me her seat and they opened a register to ring me out. Of course I was SOOO grateful.. but then I could not help wondering HOW BAD DID I LOOK!?!
We get so used to the limitations of our illness, we are used to limping about, or shuffling, of grimacing with pain each time we bend or stretch, which struggling to lift stuff, resting after each little activity ... we get lost in our own worlds and deal with it because we have to. Its interesting to think about how the world perceives you while you are lost in your little CFS bubble.
I am grateful though that there are still wonderfully considerate people out there .. even though I was so tired I forgot to thank the cashier.

so glad that the cashier was paying attention and helped you. when u have a bit of energy write a note to her manager and or to her.........expressing your gratitude........the little things make such a difference for us and we need to help spread appreciation to those who take note, who do caring things......
i\'m a two hour shopper as well........takes me forever to get the job done........more hugs of sympathy coming your way. thinking of you, with prayers and soft thoughts.......take it easy, get some rest........and a very happy birthday to your son........a teen-ager! congrats Mom.......this is another big mile marker ............do you celebrate Mother\'s Day where you live? this year marks the 100th anniversary of Mothers Day.......I can\'t remember who the president was in 1914........but I\'m so glad that they honored Mom\'s with a special day of recognition........so either way, if your country does or not.........I salute you and wish you a very Happy Mothers Day.............xoxo
