Mom out of hospital
My mom was released from the hospital today!!!!!! Her leg hasn't entirely healed, but the test results on her liver, gallbladder, and kidneys came back good. UTI is clearing up. Liver is quickly recovering from the hepatitis. Gallbladder is not inflamed and the stones are not causing any problems, so no plans for the gallbladder unless it begins to cause problems. She still has to have tests to find out the locations and severity of the blockages in her leg. She will probably have to have stints put in, but that will have to wait until the infection is gone. She doesn't have a very good understanding of diabetes, so I am urging her (pressuring her, actually) to set up an appointment to meet with a dietician in between her other medical appointments. I helped her fix her lunch today and my sister-in-law called to check and make sure Mom was behaving herself!
Mom is staying with my brother and his family for now. I'd like for her to stay with me, but my brother's wife is a physical therapist. So, she may be better off at their house for a while. My brother's wife was fantastic through this whole thing!! She knew how to read the medical charts and what questions to ask, and she wasn't shy!!! She put the doctors and nurses through the proverbial wringer. Anyway, my brother only lives about a quarter of a mile from me, so I can check on Mom when he and his wife have to be at work (one is day shift, the other is second shift) and my nieces have to go back to school. Mom wants to stay at home, but we won't allow her to stay by herself until her leg is better and she has learned how to mange her diabetes.
Okay, I'm tired and I'm in some pain, but I'm still truckin'. Tim isn't here, so I have to go take the dogs for a walk in a few minutes. I always take my pistol, but maybe I should take the cell phone, too! I'll be okay as long as I can remember which is which! LOL???

Good news about your mum being released, must be such a relief for you all.You made me laugh about your pistol and phone, sure wouldn\'t want you to answer with the pistol and click it when your phone is ringing LOL !! Great to hear she\'s out of the hospital and things are healing well! I bet that\'s a relief to all of you. Sounds like they were very thorough. And so great shes close now. My dad has diabetes and he goes to classes at the VA. It\'s been very helpful. He now knows how to read labels, etc. Although he struggles with his sweet tooth!

.................Mom is coming along, but there is a lot more road ahead with things to do and learn ........so glad she has such a loving family who want to love on her and care for her........and help her adjust to the big changes in her diet. i think you are so wise/smart to URGE her to see a dietician.........wanna see Mom doing a lot better..........this was a lot of scary lately and we\'re all still praying and looking in on ya\'ll..........
mercy, you are tooooo funny lady! maybe you should get a holster and wear \'em both..........just read an article recommending that women carry and keep wasp spray as a protective measure.........the spray is not expensive and it shoots 20 feet........nice! hope your walk went well........and that you are doing alright.........maybe ya\'ll can take turns pampering and teaching mom........talk soon, hugs, ruthie

So relieved that mom is home. Yes, she still has a long road ahead of her in healing, and in learning how to manage her Diabetes, but it will get done. A dietician really would be the best idea. You\'ve got that right! I\'m so sorry she had to go through all of this...and her family with her.
You are wonderful to stick together, and your mom is surrounded by loving, caring people who will help her and \"nudge\" her in the right direction as she learns new things, and healthy ways to live her life!!
Since Tim isn\'t home....and you\'re helping look after mom.....if your yardwork becomes a burden and you need some help, I have a brother that mows lawns......!!
Glad your mom is home and not facing any surgeries right now. I am hopeful that with proper education she can manage her diabetes. That must be a tough condition to deal with - but it sounds like you and your family are a huge support to her. I hope you had a safe walk with the dogs and didn\'t try to shoot a snake with your phone and use your pistol to make a call!
