March 10 Sleep
Went to the "Where would I be without me?" meetup last night. It was terrific as always, but I didn't get home until 10. That's my usual lights out time, but I had to wind down before I could think about sleep. I got off the screens at 10:20, read until 11:20, then popped off in reasonably short order, about 12. Didn't take any Trazadone after the 12 to 12 sleep it gave me the other day. Woke up at 5, 6, and 7, getting up at 7. I'm a little sleepy, but I don't want to sleep away the day. Sleep quality was only fair; I slept without chemical aid, but only 7 hours and I'm def not recharged as when I slept 12 hours. I hope there's a nap in my future for this afternoon; I have a 6PM meeting tonight where I'll need to be sharp to record the minutes.

Wow, you have a great handle on good sleep habits. I\'m glad you were able to sleep without any medicine. It\'s hard sometimes to decide between sleep and doing something fun like getting together with other people. I really have a terrible time sleeping. I think I should have a sleep study. Anyway, kudos to you for keeping good sleep on your radar. Smiles.
Thanks! :-) Yes, I have great sleep, except for when I don\'t, lol. I\'ve learned that good sleep hygiene is very important for both the depression and the SEID/CFS, so I do make a point of it. It doesn\'t ALWAYS work; last night I was awake until 3. But that was my own fault. Oh well, I get another chance to try again tonight, don\'t I?
I had a sleep study way back when and I don\'t think it\'s worth the time. I sensed that sleep apnea was The Next Big Thing in sleep medicine at the time and they were just pushing the machine on everyone. How well are you going to sleep in a strange bed in a strange room with electrodes taped all over you head and body? Seriously! They told me I was \"barely diagnostic\" for sleep apnea, but called me back in for another night to fit me with a mask. What a miserable night that was! I tried every mask they had and couldn\'t tolerate any of them. Plus, the machine is noisy and can\'t be put very far from your head. I told them that if I\'m \"barely diagnostic\", what the hell do I need the machine for? \"Well, it\'s only air; it can\'t hurt.\" Yeah, well, it hurts if I can\'t tolerate the mask or sleep with the noisy machine 18 inches from my head.
But, look at how I do go on and on.... Thanks for the praise, the smiles and the contact! I hope you have a great day and sleep soundly and RESTFULLY tonight and every night. :-)
Kudos to you Featherjack for working on your sleep! I too have problems with sleep. I long for the old days when I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow and didn\'t wake up until morning. We all do the best we can at this point. Sometimes I too have difficulty deciding what to do . . . exercise, nap, work in the yard. I\'m grateful I have all those options...
Thanks, triunfadora. That\'s self-care and beneficial to both the SEID and Dep, so I DO try to stay on top of it. I\'ve had to take a Traz these last four nights, though.
I find if I \"save up\" energy in my energy account before the event, I can do pretty well. but I keep an eye on it and go home if I feel myself fading.
I keep to my sleep schedule and log it every day. I chart it on a very sery simple spreadsheet. I think it helps.
