Life keeps on keepin on
Hello SOTH - this week has been a tough week. My little furry friend, Lahti, had surgery this past week for kidney stones in her bladder which was blocking her urine....I will pick her up tomorrow after 2 days of IV fluids after surgery.....I have always been one of those pet owners who love their pet but would not spend $$$$ if not needed - I usually don't have the extra money so I do grooming, immunizations, etc. but always looked at people who spent $$$$ trying to save their pet or do treatment to extend their life....
Well, this week I had the decision to make for my furry friend....she had to have surgery and it's going to cost about $1200.....now I don't happen to have this extra money lying around so do you know they have a "doggie credit card" for medical emergencies for animals? Do I need to say more....I just couldn't see her suffering and I certainly can't do another loss so soon after my daughter. Anyway, life just keeps on keepin on whether we want it to or not.....It's always something as my mom would say.
My grandson seems to be doing good and I am so grateful to family for being there for him. We all love him so much and hurt for him and with him because we all miss his mom so much.
I met with my pastor yesterday about how I can help others who are grieving. I don't know what to do many times but I know I have been lonely and long to help others...sometimes I just need a hug or a listening ear.... So tonite I'm feeling okay....still wishin and hoping that my phone would ring and it would be my daughter, still wishin and hoping that I could see her tomorrow for lunch, still wishin and hoping that I wasn't on this journey. I miss you Jennifer and love you so much.

I have spent thousands of dollars on my Cocker Spaniel Jif...she was my heart... first time she had a bladder stone so large it occupied her entire bladder.... then a year later she had a thyroid mass that if not removed would have sent her heart into arrest.... I did have her for several more years and I never ever was sorry about the money.
Your willingness to work with other grieving families is commendable...I don\'t know how good I\'d be at that even now...
When I was working at a drug treatment center I was assigned a patient who had lung cancer...this was just a week after I buried my own mother who died of lung cancer... I really thought my boss was a jerk for wanting me to take on this patient... I don\'t know how much help I was...
Hugs to you and your sweet Lahti...
MaryLou
I\'m sorry to hear about your rough week. I hope Lahti recovers well. Dogs are love as far as I\'m concerned, so I understand completely you spending the money. Our dogs are a huge comfort both because they were part of our son\'s life and because they give me great comfort. Good luck! Laura
Our Cocker Spaniel, Joy has been just that for us. She was Jennifer\'s dog and Marissa loved her too. We all do. We spent for that surgery too, but our Jennifer was so happy with her. How could we not do it? I wonder what Joy thinks about Jennifer and Marissa being gone. Yes they are comfort.
Sending you peace, Kathy
I hope your Lahti has a speedy uneventful recovery from her surgery. The love shared with our dear pets is priceless. Holding you, your grandson and Jennifer in special thoughts....

I so sorry your little Lahti has had to go through all of this....and you. Medical expenses for pets are about as out of control as they are for humans I think sometimes!! YIKES! I\'m glad there was a way for you to \"afford\" the surgery and I hope and pray and believe Lahti will be OK.
I know reaching out and helping others is one of the best things we can do for ourselves and our healing journeys. It takes courage to be willing to even try and step outside of ourselves for even a few hours and help someone in need. But once we do, WE feel the strength and the power of LOVE energy healing our hearts. What a great thing you are doing!
Lots of love and tight heart hugs~~Teri
I am glad your little fur baby will be alright. Helping people can give you the healing you need. When I lost my son I could not talk much at first, I could wright. My girlfriend who could not come to be with me called alot but we did email 2-3 times a week. Putting my feelings down in type was so much easier then talking.. A good friend of mine here had talked to a co worker , that is when Marie gave me the address to this site. So here I am. Knowing people need different ways to heal and each of us do a good job of sharing ideas that something will work and start the process of healing.
Rambling on again
Hugs Penny
furry friends are worth the monies.... I hope your little fur friend will be ok... I am also waiting for my phone to ring or the next text message... love ya!
hi Vicki, I agree. Your dog is worth the money. Our fur babies are so important to us and to help us heal. For me, helping others who are new to this journey has been helpful for me. Others helped me so much when I first lost my son. Much love to you and dear Jennifer, Linda. May Lahti have a smooth, full and quick recovery.
Oh Vicki. I can so relate to the wish for that phone call. Lisa and I talked on the phone daily (she lived 1500 miles away).
I am glad that Lahti was able to have surgery. It is hard to see a pet suffer.
I was getting panicky as our cat Yuki, had not had a checkup since we got her just after Lisa died. She does not handle going out so when I saw an ad for Vets to Go, I arranged for an appointment. It was $200 but worth every penny. Even my husband, who offers to give Yuki to everyone did not complain. Since she is an indoor cat, we don\'t have to have her immunized for 3 years. I don\'t know what we would do without her. She has special meaning as she was Lisa\'s kitten. She keeps us entertained.
Enough about Yuki. Wishing Lahti a speedy recovery.
Love and hugs,
Marlene
I think that\'s wonderful you want to try to reach out to others in their time of need and in your time of grief. I do think it helps when you give support to others since that\'s a way also to get support for yourself both by helping and realizing you are not alone in your nightmare. Hope Lahti is making a smooth recovery - definitely money well spent.
I hear you about the phone ringing - it\'s been a while for me but I still look out the window and pray to see David\'s car coming down the driveway just one more time.....Joanna x
I wish your Lahti a speedy recovery! I too, am one of those who will not spend a lot of money on keeping a pet alive. I think the credit card for pet care that you speak of is called \"Care Credit\". At least that is what it was called when I worked for vets. I would never go into debt for an animal that would die before I could even pay off the bill, but then again, I don\'t have pets! I sure can understand not facing another loss so soon though! I think vet bills are surely out of control, but I know that the doctors have to pay their college expenses the same as other doctors. And they have the most modern technology these days! At any ratel, I hope Lahti comes home comfortable, healthy and healed! I choose not to have pets due to the expenses LOL. I remember the phone ringing thing, even after all these years..
