Killing time
well, still have an hour left to go at work and trying to kill some time so thought I'd do a little writing on how things have been going. My new meds seem to be working--I even laugh once in a while now! I just hope this continues as I can't deal with the depression I'd been having up until now.
My mom's been in rehab now for a week after two weeks in the hospital. I don't know what's going to happen or if she will get well enough to go home. I won't put her in a nursing home which means I'd bring her back to live with me. My sister's has been bearing the brunt of taking care of her as she is 45 minutes away from me and only 5 minutes from my sister. It's a tough job dealing with all the doctors and therapists. Mom doesn't have much of an appetite and I've seen this in elderly people before. It usually marks the beginning of the end. I've taken care of two elderly people, my neighbor and my mother-in-law and loss of appetite means they don't eat well and start going down hill. We'll just have to wait and see.
Otherwise, everything's been going pretty well. I've got an estimate to get some new windows in my house before the weather gets too bad. I tried getting three estimates by two companies I've called haven't gotten back to me yet. I'm giving them until Wednesday and if I don't hear from them I'm going to go with the one I've got. It's a fair quote and the man seems very nice to deal with.
So here's to a smiley face today for the first time in a very long time. Feeling good and getting much accomplished at the house. I've been spackling and painting, cleaning and washing all weekend. I've even been motivated which I haven't been since Gene died. I still miss him terribly, but the pain is not as raw. I still fall backwards sometimes, but at least now I feel I take one step back and two forward instead of two back and one forward. Doing the best I can with the hand i've been dealt.
My son is doing great and loves his new job. Can't believe he'll be turning 23 on Thursday. I still have the kids over every Monday night for dinner. Trying to accept all invitations to get out of the house on the weekends. May go wine tasting this Saturday.
